"All right, now I need you to practice this..." And her master sang her a few notes, which she repeated perfectly. "Good good, now try it a few more times."
"Do I have to?" she asked. "I'm tired of practicing...I wanna learn an actual song!"
"Tell you what, practice those notes a few more times, and I'll teach you a song," her master replied, patting her on the head. "How about that?"
"YAY! Okay!" And she began to diligently practice. She had a bit of magic rise around her as she was very happy about the reward she was supposed to be getting. Her master had noted her magic was sometimes tied to her mood. She'd be one who could sing the primal base beautiful music that he had learned, seeking the songs in her own way one day.
"Good job little one," he said. Inwardly his heart felt so much joy. She was doing so well learning, magic...was second nature to her. If there was any way anyone could reach her, to get her to understand something, it was through music. She might not understand much in the coming years, but music was something she was destined for. He patted her on the head and went to tend the fire for a few moments.

"Okay, I practiced it lots," she said, going through it twenty times. "Song?"
"Right, I did promise, and I never ever break a promise. You should never either," he said, tapping her on the nose. "Even if someone tries to force you to break it, if the situation will keep you from it. You can always fight to keep it. Never break a promise."
"I won't!" she said. "Now song!" She looked up at him with bright green eyes, so eager to learn and yet so young and innocent. The innocence would last for quite a while longer.
"All right, scoot a bit closer to the fire, this one's a bit tough to learn," he said. Why start her off on a tough song? She could handle it. He knew she could.
"Okay, I can't wait!" she said.
"Of course you can't little one. Its a unique song too...I don't know if you've heard it before or not..." Her bedtime might have come before it would be performed.

Her master coughed, clearing his throat. "All right...the first lyrics..." He waved a hand towards the fire, and some seemed to leap to his hand. She never stopped being amazed at the things her master could do! He was amazing with magic and with song!
"In a time far away I'll sing you a song Listen to my tale I swear it not to be long
Come to the dance Join me one and all The fire shall not burn you Listen to the pagan call," he sang softly, the fire dancing around his hand. As he moved it, the fire seemed to move with him. After which he held it out to the child. "Now, repeat after me...and take the fire into your own hands."
The song...sounded a little familiar to her, like she'd heard it before. It put her to sleep once or twice.
"Won't it burn me?" she asked.
"The fire shall not burn you..." he sang softly and she cautiously stretched out her hands towards it. They were still so small. The fire lept into her hands and she held it there a moment.
Then she began to sing, and the fire danced in time to her music. The few lyrics she began to sing. "Oh wow..."
"See? Its a call to the dance...and the fire...people can dance with the fire...in the fire itself," he said.
"Wow...why?" she asked.
"Its supposed to awaken life, the soul within," he said. "Get them ready to celebrate. Now...onto the next part of the song..."
"I'm ready!"

Night was late, and they both needed sleep. She hadn't mastered the song, far from it, for the first night, merely was learning it first, the words and all. She'd learned the words fairly well, and her master planned to teach her the dance to come with it later. Once she got better at singing of course, that was what came first.
She curled up against her master on the bed roll they sometimes shared when she was a little afraid of the dark, or they weren't staying in an inn. She wanted to be close to a warm body and she felt safe with her master nearby. They were well protected anyways too here, but she still felt safer closer to him, ever a small child.
It'd been a while since he'd found her, since she ran away from home at her Grandmother's encouragement. He knew...somehow he knew this was just the beginning of the young bard's adventures.
