Do you enjoy helping the young and clueless?
  Yes.
  No.
Yes, but it is a selfish act on my part.
No, because it is a selfish and empty gesture.
Only if I feel they deserve it.
  Their suffering makes me stronger.
What the crap are you talking about?

Okay, so maybe they are not noobs. Perhaps a newbie or just a young'un who has strayed into an area near a saucy topic. And maybe it was not exactly help, but it got me to thinking. So. Today I was wandering around a topic that sounded like it would attract a lot of noobs looking to cyber (and I was right). I went to the next screen to scout out houses where degenerates had already begun their mating rituals, and was disappointed to find it was only a field. My disappointment was soon replaced by an interest in a nearby conversation. It seems someone had "met this really great guy but he's 22". Oh ho? What if this person speaking is under 18? I've made some stupid mistakes in my short 20 years of life, so I was stuck around. Turns out this person (possibly not a noob, so let's call her Newbelina) was 12! Her friend (?) was freaked out and started walking away. In my frog form, I polite apologized for butting into the conversation, and asked for more details. You see, I was concerned that Newbelina was getting herself into something bad. It turns out he hit on her, but apparently didn't know she was 12, and that when she found out he was 22, she left. I was relieved and told her so, although she wasn't sure if he would have stopped hitting on her once he found out she was 12. I told her I was just concerned because I had gotten involved in a similar situation when I was but a wee teenager and didn't want anyone else to make the same mistake. I then told her to be careful and went on my way. I still feel like I should have been a little more nosy and given more advice on avoiding older dudes because anyone more than a few years older who is gonna go for that is someone you want to stay away from. (I am not saying that this applies to adults who are more than a few years apart in age. Minors can just be easy prey for awful people sometimes.)

tl;dr? Okay, so, I was wondering if anyone else ever got the feeling that wandering around being helpful to noobish people would be enjoyable. I know there are groups who like to mentor/adopt newbies and show 'em around, but what about trying to be helpful while you are out observing? Is this just a thing, as Melchior Gabor would believe, done to make me feel better because I think I am doing something good?

Hmm. Maybe noobs are beyond help, but those on their way to becoming them need a little guidance? Those that share a language but not behavioral patterns?

That was very nice what you did! ^^ Whenever I've tried to help n00bs it's usually been in the area of earning gold... so naturally they don't pay much attention. :/ One female n00b actually got angry when I started to tell her how to earn gold...

ntl;dr. I'd wanna help anyone in that situation, Noob/Newb/Oldbie etc.... the thing I feel gets forgotten on Gaia is that behind nearly every avi (bots not included) is a person. Aside from how their avi looks on gaia, which is why I only hunt cybering noobs.

If I heard someone saying this kind of thing in towns, then I would assist them, unless they were trolling, and thats hard to figure sometimes. I regularly enjoy going to the life issues forum and helping people there, so I can empathise with the way you are feeling.
