From Whence Shall We Return The limited post role play
For my own convenience and limitation, I have produced a Role Play that both demands and restricts activity. That both stretches and pulls back the imagination. From Whence Shall We Return implies open-endedness or even never ending, as the characters seek footing in the past with which to continue a future. Third post is Initial scenario and my first post. Keeping and deleting post-addons as seen fit for story coherency, since I don't feel like radically modifying anything. The Characters:Delvish: introduced - page 2, post 2 - played by Delvish Industries *displayed through Tektek.org* This first picture is Delvish's suit for landing operations, and his first appearance upon arrival. That second picture is him without the helmet, claws to be implemented later but are not always there. Seraph: introduced - page 3, post 1 - Played by PelucidSeraph The first picture is when Seraph carries out the operation with his team. The second is his normal self when he's relaxing or undercover as a civillian. His sword seems to be unnoticable by regular people, and he can transition between it's two shapes. Hitomi: page 5, post 2 - played by shinto_rori_okashi (stop capitalizing my name! -Lyn) First: The "everyday" stuff - not so fancy dress, favorite scarf, and her sword. Second: The "normal" wear. (The scarf wasn't supposed to come so high, but it was the only one I could find that fit the vision. If you must, imagine Rozalin - Disgaea 2, reference - it's supposed to look like her scarf thingy.) Most people see her in something casual and comfy - street clothes, if you will. Lorelm: unintroduced - played by unknown Umm this is mah character and his name is Lorelm Iriad and he lives on the surface roaming around with his sister and a band of nomads who found him unconscious in the middle of an abandoned city in the wreckage of an old apartment while they were scavenging for supplies. 시작해요 | Start

Rules of Engagement: 1. Don't be a Douchbag. 2. God-moding. NO. 3. Literacy (With exceptions based on age. When in doubt, add some parenthisies(sp?) [For reference sake] 4. Activity. ---4.A. Remain active, posting one post per day, AT THE VERY LEAST every other day. I do understand things come up however. Let us know. ---4.B. Don't spam. Mostly for me, but no more than 3 posts in a day. Allow the story to progress as one, even if you are on a side story. 5. Stay in the Storyline. 6. Stay in the Setting. Just remember, Don't break the GLASS. May have to change the acronym as rules pop up.

Quote: I'll give you a setting before jumping into the story, and you guys can create your characters.
It's been over a century now, since the great war. No one still living remembers the events of the past. Earth has become no more than a desolate wasteland, inhabited by none and inhabitable by no one. Enormous craters dot the landscape and an ever present contaminated air exists. Sparsly scattered over the world are holes delving deep into the earth's crust, barely wider than a semi. This is where the future of humanity lays, exiled underground by the post-apocalyptic battleground of a century past.
Our story begins under the old city of Michigan. Underground, the city has grown enormously. Giant pillars, stretching from several hundred feet underground as the roof down nearly half a mile to the ground, serve as housing to the many citizens of Migan. The walls around the metropolis were a sight to see indeed. Trees sprouted strait out of the wall, angling upward toward bright lights around the ceiling, illuminating the city like a sun.
For decades the people of Migan remained peaceful and kept to themselves, only occasionally exiling a few citizens as they get restless. That was all about to end with the coming of a meteor shower...
Quote: I can't decide on what the populace looks like in appearance, but there is a rule in the city that there are no weapons, and the consequence of any violence with one is exile. It is a strictly enforced rule, however mostly absentmindedly since many of the citizens have not seen any such thing.

So the story is basically about what happens to the people and whatnot and progresses into the different discoveries. (Weapons, above-ground factions of raiders/people who embrace war and battle.) What's the plot of the story? You just described the structure and background of what happened. -_- What kind of characters are we allowed to make, and will all of them be major characters?

We of course will be major characters. Kind of defeats the role play if the players are only minor characters. As for the characters themselves, your characters act as citizens of the city. My character when he comes in will act as the protagonist, acting as a spark to cause a rift in the everyday life of the citizens. He will let you into the history of the war, but to give an advance... The founders of Migan were originally children sent underground to shelter from the war while teenagers upwards of 15 years fought. Life expectancy dropped back down to 50's and 60's so currently the city is overlooked by it's 3rd generation of leadership. Likewise the citizens are in their 3rd and 4th generation so no one remembers or knows what is above ground. Don't go above ground because that is the way it's always been.
Also, technology is a little sketchy. It isn't as advanced as today, but certain things are still around. Like there isn't internet, and world wide communication, but there are radios and solar powered technology (Solar panels on the surface power the facility. Didn't ever think about raider parties. I guess it is possible, but for the most part the surface is uninhabitable due to radioactivity. post-apocalyptic + huge craters = nuclear weapons went boom.
As for the plot, haven't entirely decided. The way my stories get planned is there is a beginning then an end, then fill it up with things to get it there. This time I don't think I'm going to plot out an end. Otherwise I tend to direct the RP and that isn't near as fun. Lastly it means it can be a constant adventure of exploration.

Ah, sorry. xD Haven't done an RP in awhile cause everyone here is so lazy.
So, kind of like the 1950's level of technology and such? I mean yeah, nuclear bombs and such were possible in the 1950's right? And if you're talking just radio's and solar panels, this war probably happened around the 1990's or so. Since the conditions of the aftereffect of the war were difficult, of course the technology migt devolve.
Can I be a bad guy? Well, not neccessarily the bad guy, but the guy that's in a raiding party that didn't know what he was getting into, and was only a raider for the rush and excitement of using weapons. xD But, if the nuclear stuff was the thing that caused the war, what kind of facilities might they have to supply the energgy for everything? The solar panels seem a little wierd, seeing as they supposedly live underground now. How would they set up the solar panels with the radioactivity on the surface? Have they advanced that far with their technology to create hazmat-suits and the like?
Isn't that how all plots are structured? -_- For the end, you could like have it just flow through the story like that, but first have a conflict, but have someone who plays the antagonist make up the conflict and the protagonist(you) are going to make the goal of the people.
A test scenario might be that you want everything to go back to the way they were before the war, peace and properity and all that. I would probably make the raiders want everything the way they are because they like the wild life their living with the weapons and whatnot.
The exploration is good, because first the good guy would have to think of something, then the bad guys would have to counter-act that in their own way of thinking and so on. But nothing out of the lines of reality since this is based on something like what might of happened if the German's in world war 2 might have developed their nuclear bombs. Or something. xD

The solar panels do seem a little weird and out of place, but I needed a source of energy, and I figured there would be one isolated party for surface operations. maintaining the energy source and other activities, kind of like a guard post.
And if you want to be a bad guy, I don't think you'd be part of the story until a bit later. I plan to fully explore Migan before leaving it behind. Another idea if you did want to go down that path is start out as a citizen of Migan, and go off on a side story that intertwines with this one. Becoming a raider and what not. Needless to say regardless of the upbringing, we are still humans and the more or less need for violence is apparent.
When I look at the technology, I think Trigun. Highly advanced technology capable of transporting humans across the galaxy was there, but due to forced landing, the people were isolated and now operate the technology with only a vague understanding of it. Their own technology is not far different from the old western days. Steam engines, 6 shooters, but with occasional motor vehicles. Again, using far advanced lost technology (plants) as power.

So with the advanced technology, they might have some futuristic king of suits that shield them from the radioactivity and that's how they could move about above ground?
I've got a solution for that. Maybe I could be like a spy of some sort that lives in Migan, but only as a cover because he likes to get some peace and quiet sometimes, but he's still a part-time raider, maybe like second in command of a raider group. Before that though, when I might still be just a regular citizen, maybe I have like a father that was a strict non-violence activist or seomthing, and I was also, but I accidently find an old-fashioned rifle above ground wandering around, and I fix in Migan and use it and get excited. That's how I might be the second in command, because I give it to our supposed leader, and he starts up the raider group.
Trigun hmm... I don't watch that anime too often, but I've seen it. Maybe, the first generation of peoiple who controlled and knew how to use the technology were killed by the opposing force in an effort to weaken their enemy, but on of them survives and they could be a relative of yours?
The technology doesn't have to be THAT far into the past. but that's a pretty good example so far.

Your character and how he fits into the story is completely up to you. Just remember that the use of weapons inside of Migar is strictly not permitted.
