Please remember that Discussion is a discussion forum. While the discussion does not need to be very serious or particularly complex, we would like to remind you that conversation in threads should, whenever possible, be on topic. This is most important for new threads, where there is generally a more defined topic. Off-topic chatter can be very disruptive to other users who are trying to discuss the thread topic. A certain level of chatter is understandable in older threads due to their having developed a core user base and the broadness of their subject and understand that tangents may arise during normal conversation, but we expect users to keep this to a minimum.
Threads that are persistently off-topic, or make no attempt at ensuring that their threads continue to provoke discussion as they grow larger, will be relocated to more appropriate forums.
Discussion Core Rules
Flaming
-Flaming is against the Terms of Service, and can get you warned or banned. This also includes posting pictures consisting of flamatory statements- bottom line, anything used to insult does not belong on Gaia, even if it is "friendly banter" and in jest.
-Please deal with flaming by ignoring it and reporting it. Quoting and responding to a person who is flaming can add insult to injury, especially if you flame back. In the end, it does not matter who starts it- just report it and ignore it.
What is "spam" in this forum
-Posts should contribute to the discussion at hand, or they are spam. If you intend on replying with a picture, there has to be content there that contributes to the discussion. If the picture is meant to be the entire content of the post, it does not belong here. Please post the random pictures elsewhere.
~As well, making comments such as "tl;dr", "WALL OF TEXT" and a comment consisting only on how you did not read the a post, this is also spam. The idea is, if it is too long to read, you should not post about this epiphany. This will cause strikes against your account.
(-Bumping) If your thread's falling to the bottom of the page and you want to knock it up to the top again, don't just bump. Make a post that adds to the content of the thread or elaborates on the discussion at hand. Gotta keep it interesting to post!
-(Begging) If you want gold, either bump 'til you drop in the Chatterbox subforum. Discussion is not the place to ask for donation assistance from the community.
-(Advertising) If you want to publicize your website, auction, lottery or quest, put a link in your sig. Don't post a thread about it in Discussion. Advertising = spamming, and will get you warned or banned.
-(White text/Unreadably tiny text) Text which is white (and thus invisible against the page background) or too tiny to read with the naked eye will be treated as if it is not there. As such, threads which do not have any visible discussion will be sent to the Junk Pile.
-(Misleading titles) Titles what don't match the discussion are tricksy and false, and will be moved to the Chatterbox because it will be considered spam.
