So, anyone seen it yet? Thoughts?
I went last night - I love living a mile from the nearest cinema. I can just turn up on the off-chance that a showing has seats biggrin
Spoilers are in white text, highlight to read. Thoughts are in no particular order!
Where was Salah (sp)? Sorely missed. Nice touches with the references to Marcus & Henry Jones Senior. I will always miss Denholm Elliot - as I've said elsewhere, no one gets lost in his own museum like he does. He was also very good in "The Signalman" and "The Persuaders!"
I'm glad they didn't have Mud or Mutt or whatever his name was actually put on the fedora. That's Indy's, thank you very much!
Indy still hates snakes smile
"Yeah, there were other women. But there was one thing wrong with them. They weren't you, sweetheart." Altogether now, "awwwwwww!"
I was a bit put out by the whole alien / Roswell thing, until I remembered it was no less believable than the Holy Grail, the Ark of the Covenant and voodoo.
There is something very satisfying about watching the Paramount mountain transmogrify into part of the first scene, with the magic word "Lucasfilm" appearing. John Williams' score, as always, rocked. Some old familiar themes appeared at various points, along with new music. I was expecting "Scherzo for Motorcycle & Sidecar" at one point, but I suspect they resisted that.
Is it me, or has John Hurt looked about the same age for the last 20 odd years?
The movie definitely had the spirit of the originals, altogether enjoyable, albeit channelling "The Mummy" at times. The nasty-things-happening-to-people quotient kept up with the originals. There were definitely a couple of "ick" moments where I did look away - and this was a 12A! I'm going soft smile
