Here are a few of my personal favorites (no yaoi, I promise):

1. Basara by Yumi Tamura: [fantasy, drama, action] It's got a great storyline, very dramatic with a lot of action. It takes place in post-apocolyptic Japan and is about a girl who must secretly take the place of her twin brother who has been prophisized to free the people of the rule of an opressive monarchy.

2. Silver Diamond by Shiho Sugiura: [fantasy, drama, shounen-ai] Rakan thinks he's just an ordinary high-schooler until the morning a man mysteriously appears in his garden and tries to kill him with a rifle made from the branch of a tree. The man soon changes his tune declaring undying loyalty to his Sanome Prince.

3. Fairy Tail by Hiro Mashima: [fantasy, comedy, action] Lucy's a magician (a keeper of the Celestial Keys) and she has only one dream: to join the Magic Guild of her dreams, Fairy Tail. Unfortunately, she has no idea how to go about joining such an exclusive, eccentric guild and then she meets Natsu and his flying, talking cat Happy. It's everything you'd expect from the manga-ka of Rave Master. <--check that one out too!

4. Tail of the Moon by Rinko Ueda: [romance, comedy] Usagi is the great-grand-daughter of the leader of her ninja family and she's a complete loss when it comes to ninja skills. Her great-grandpa sends her off on a mission to the clan leader to "marry him and give him many babies." No one counts on the fact that Hattori Hanzo doesn't want to marry and wouldn't even consider marriage to a girl that can't even get her ninja certification.

5. Please Save My Earth by Saki Hiwatari: [supernatural, drama]
(I couldn't come up with a concise summary so I'll use Viz's. Just ask me if you want to know more.)
Are the woes of the present meant to be endured for the promise of a better future or to atone for past wrongs? In a captivating epic of love, fate and faith, seven young people must struggle with this spiritual puzzle as their alien past lives threaten the future.

6. Red River by Chie Shinohara: [romance, fantasy, historical, drama, action] MATURE CONTENT
(summary, again stolen this time from Manga Updates)
Yuuri, a modern day teenager who has just gotten her first kiss, is suddenly whisked away to ancient Anatolia where an evil queen wants her for a blood sacrifice. Luckily, the timely intervention of Prince Kail saves Yuuri from the queen's grasp. For now. Kail promises to send Yuuri back to her home, but the queen's persistent schemes to kill them both, plus their growing interest in each other, keep those plans delayed.

I recommend Bloody Kiss for the really romantic.


Its about a an orphaned girl who inherits a house for a misterious Grandmother, but the house posses a unique secret? will it be discovered? find out.

I've read a good bit of Ouran High, but it's been awhile. I do like it though.

I must check out Barairo My Honey. Sounds interesting though the first line of the summary made me think of Your and My Secret (My Barbarian Girlfriend). Again it's about Nanako Momoi, a very cute girl that any guy would want to date, but unfortunately she's more like a bull--hot headed and deadly. That doesn't discourage the interest of Akira, a boy who's been in love with her since Junior High. Unfortunately, when he volunteers to deliver her school assignments when Nanako is absent from school, he discovers all too closely that she and her mad-scientist grandfather are insane. In an experiment gone wrong, Akira ends up switching bodies with Nanako and when Nanako discovers the perks to being a man, she decides to keep his body, damn Akira's intentions.
