I am totally against it!
Fantasy is what kick starts the imagination of kids! Which do you think is a better book for kids to read and have fun playing out? Eragon or a historical documentary about how the Brittish and the Americans slaughtered each other for their rights? =/
Eragon and such other stories do have violence, but it's the kind that doesn't automatically either lose the kid's attention or scar them for life, OR make them want to pick up a long pointy stick and whack anyone with a brittish accent with it.

100% Against it!
Fantasy is something that broadens our imagination, our individuality. If fantasy didnt exist, would anime? Would the manga we read and so enjoy. Not. If we werent allowed to have fantasy then everything we've tried to achieve like earthss_darkness said would be in vein. Without anime and manga and the imagination guiding us to better things, Gaia wouldnt exist.

But then again too much fanatasy for children especialy young children isn't all that great. If you think about it, when we were kids or at least when I was a yound child. I watched like barnie, then hello kitty and then like the big comfy couch. only on of the two were anime. Now most of children shows are anime.
I actualy know a kid the jumps off his roof or anything high because he thinks his broom that he baught from the harry potter site can actualy fly. No matter what he thinks, he is conviced it does. He is too young to get that is it just a replica but the watched harry potter so many times that he allmost seems brain washed into thinking that it is all true.
Fantasy such as fairy tales and maybe a few tv shows are ok. ( most books that I read are fantasy actauly) but too much can really damage young children's mind and stuff. They start thinking that they are in the movie, or that it is real. It is one thing to play princess and knight or like dress up and stuff, but some kids get too into it and start believing it, and hearing it . They can actualy go crazy.

I am opposed to this concept.
I believe that parents are responsible for teaching their children THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FANTASY AND REALITY, and if the parents do this, it won't matter how much fantasy a child deals with, because he or she will know that it IS only fantasy.

If they go crazy it is because they have a chemical inbalence and it was going to happen some way or another confused If it wasn't fantasy, it was going to be the real stuff. Going back to my first post, if the kid who jumped off his roof had watched that documentary instead, he would be searching his dad's closet for a shot gun. Yes, kids are impressionable. But it's what kids are SUPPOSED to be. That case with the broom stick was rare. If he didn't get that the broom doesn't fly the FIRST time he jumped off a roof, then something's wrong with the kid upstairs and it's not something that Harry Potter did.
Fairy Tales are what every generation has grown up on. It's what they play out during recess, it's what their parents will tell them when they need a story to go to sleep, it's what they create off of. It's a necessity.
