kay. so.


one: I'M VERY VERY VERY PISSED AT MYSELF FOR NOT SUBMITTING
and my reason won't change the fact i didn't send in a picture, but you guys should still probably know

two: a few nights ago, my sister called me on my cellphone in the middle of the night screaming and crying all hysterical and whatnot. (i'd rather not tell you what she was telling me tbh.) so my parents think that her depression is coming back or something, and that's not a good thing considering she's pregnant and might do something notsogood. so my parents asked me to move in with her (she lives in another part of the philippines beside her film school) just until everything gets better.

so basically, i wasn't able to submit a picture because i was busy packing my things, quitting my job, talking to my sister on the phone on a daily basis since her last phone call, telling my friends i'm moving, flying to the place my sister is, and unpacking and getting settled. i'm really sorry you guys! ): i know some of you were expecting a lot from me too.

Maybe we could have a voting thread for which non-entry you want to see given a second chance? The person eliminated this round could be added to the voting list to be fair to those who submitted this week.

Then have the top person with the most votes avoid elimination and one person gets added too by "judge's choice"... Would only be a one off though. And would be a major plot twist lol

Cause I agree Lady Glompage that the contest is suddenly shrinking and eliminations are more or less based on who has the most free time.

12 to 8 to 3 contestants is just crazy. But I guess the comp can't be dragged out forever. And if people missed a shot then maybe it will become habit...?

Looks like cycle 3 will only be 5 rounds long.

Anyways, my critique:

Eruvanda: Really cool idea with the crescent moon. I'm not expert on the Titans but trusty panthon.org says the one you picked was about memory and the creation of words. Not so sure you conveyed that. I like the Greek styled outfit though.

Twilima: Not so sure the vintage like photography complements the photo. Though you did get in character with the titan of 'intelligence'. At first I thought you were Atlas as in that atlas you were reading but I see the link to the theme.

ScaredCrow Riots: Oceanus must be the ocean titan (pretty sure without checking that up lol) and I really like how you use your style and sense of humor. Wow you stepped up with the styling, the horns and eyes are a great touch. The setting is really inventive, I love how the bath is your ocean and you are all so powerful that you can lift up islands. Bonus points for the pokemon and rubber ducky too.

So its no surprise from that... that ScaredCrow Riots gets my vote.

I have to agree with this. The contest and rounds have been so sparatic and things haven't been updated regularly so it's kind of thrown me off and the one week I'm really busy (and Lady Glompage too) then things actually run on schedule and we are out for no submissions.

@Lady Glompage: You poor thing! I really thought you were going to win you're entries have been great every week. I hope everything works out for you and things "normal out" after a while.

My Vote: I have to vote for ScaredCrow Riots on this one. It looks great with the make up and props, plus it's got this quirky thing that I like. Pokemon figures, lol that's fabulous. Plus all ur submissions have been good and I like ur style.

But to the other two entries, glad you guys could submit and ur pics are still good. I'm glad you all are still in the competition and having fun!

CRITIQUE/VOTE:

Man, this feels dumb.

OKAY.

Eruvanda: The first thing I thought when I saw this was WOW, the editing was really pulled off well here. I love the pose and how it fits with the photo. The second thing I thought was I DON'T KNOW because I really can't see YOU in this photo.

It's really hard to judge a photo of a person when you can't tell what the person looks like.

ALSO, the theme seems a bit lost in translation.

Twilima: I really like this photo.

It looks like something you'd see in a vintage looking ad or something.

I really like the laurels, I wanted laurels so bad for my photo but couldn't figure out how to go about it.

I totally got the theme right away, and you do look very much like a sort of astral/mythic being here. I really like how you used your home to masque the fact it was your home. It almost looks Grecian!

Thus, my vote goes to Twilima.



Some technical stuff about my photo:

My photo for titans is based on the titan Oceanus. He was the titan of the oceans and reigned over all salt water bodies. He is described as being a man with horns and claws of a crab.

My photo shows Oceanus in his pool of salt water (my tub) rising an island from the depths below. Also featured are various sea creatures (bath toys).

I originally was going to somehow make a claw but I couldn't figure it out, then I was going to shop one in, but it looked dumb. However, my hand is sort of shaped like a claw, no?

Also I did my own makeup for that drowned look. Even though I'm in the tub, there was NO WATER in my hair besides what I used for styling it.

I thought I'd add fun facts since this post was so short.

Critiques:


- Eruvanda: Your titan was of memory, and I don't see at all what this has to do with that. There was a titan of the moon, Phoebe. You could've just used her name instead of the one you chose. Anyway, more about the picture, the moon is pretty and the positioning of the body on it is great, but I can't see you. Maybe a close up would've been good, one where you can still tell she's lying on the moon. Overall, I think it's okay.

- Twilima: I really like it. You pulled off your titan well. The book and the pencils are great to show intelligence, but I don't really like the model you're holding. It kinda contrasts with the picture (with the colors and stuff) and looks ugly in my opinion. I didn't notice this bit at first, so maybe you shouldn't have faded the picture or whatever and instead upped the contrast or something, but I LOVE the laurels, your hair, and the robes in this. They're a perfect touch to show Greek. I'm not sure you pulled off "Titan," but it's definitely Greek. Anyways, I see the theme here and you chose great accents for your photo. Great job.

- ScaredCrow Riots: I'm not liking this as much as everyone else. I like the horns, the make-up, and the eye. Your hair is good, too. Your facial expression and body positioning are great, but they seem serious and they contrast a lot with the "funny" elements of the picture. It's cute that you did it in the tub, but I don't like the wall in the back or the toys on the edge. Maybe a boat and duck in the bubbles would've been alright. Overall, it's good, but it's not GREAT to me. However, I feel you portrayed "Titan" better than the other two, and like Twilima's, your picture shows the theme well.




My vote goes to Twilima.
And to bringing a couple contestants back. ninja




EDIT: Oh, and for those you who are mad at yourselves for not entering a picture, why not take the picture now if you're not so busy any more and post it for us to look at?
With a few people suggesting that a couple nonentrants should be allowed back and the frustration that GrilledTofu must be feeling that there were so many nonentries, Grilled Tofu might just appreciate your belated effort and understand your situation, making him more prone to giving you another chance.
It's worth a shot, I think.
And the least it would do is provide some fun maybe?

I think it's only like this because it's almost the end of the school year and we're all just panicking to get things in.
