Do you have to wear bloomers or are they optional? Is it okay not to wear them? And if you have to wear them, is there a suitable substitute you could wear, like shorts? I wasn't sure and wanted to make sure.

I'm new to lolita too and well I think you can wear what ever you want. I think they do look cute though :3 (I only like the short ones though)

Lolita is all about making it your own. I usually wear shorts under my dresses to begin with, but there are some styles where bloomers are just a beautiful add on to your outfit. Just remember as long as you're comfortable all is good. Just make sure you can't see your shorts if you decide to wear them under the skirt. *wink*
