OMG! That book is awesome! My friend got a signed copy of the Host! She let me borrow it(isn't she sooo nice, my other friend who has a normal version wouldn't even let me borrow hers!). I read it in like 1 1/2 days! I just couldn't put it down! I have to admit, the begining is kind of slow...... I personally thought the first 100 pages were not as good....But then it gets awesome! She should sooo make a sequel once she finished Breaking Dawn and Midnight Sun! I totally recommend the Host! Woot woot! biggrin biggrin

Its definately fantasy. Its about aliens evading earth and taking over human bodies. Its all from a "soul" named Wanda's point of view. The human she takes over is still there with her so they are both sharing a body. It gets really interesting when Wanda starts to feel the same things Melanie (the human she is hosting) feels and does things against her own kind.

AAHHH!
OMG
That book was
AMAZING
People kept interupting me when I got to really good parts so it took me longer [4 days] than it usually would have [about 6 hours]
I was ready to lock myself in a room and put a restraining order on anyone who dared to come near me...although that wouldn't really work on a train, now would it? -.-"

and also, I really hope there's a sequel
where she left us off is just perfect for the beginning of another book.

My sister has been in a whole other state (she went for a school thing) and she bought the Host and as soon as she's back (later tonight) I can read it!

Don't listen to the bad reviews.

It's all lies.

Oh what's it about?
My version of the synopsis is confusing and probably gives away too much. So, here's the synopsis from the book cover:

"Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away.
Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.
When Melanie, one of the few remaining 'wild' humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading 'soul' who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
Wanderer probes Melanie's thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human existence. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer's mind with visions of the man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love."
<3
So long. But. Yea.
That doesn't explain a little bit, but, I don't want to go ruining things inadvertently.

I have to say ( I hope I don't get jumped for saying this xD ) I was VERY disappointed with The Host. I read a LOT and there are very few books that I can't get through and I am sad to say The Host was one of them. It was SO SLOW!!!! It was quite honestly so bad that I am incredibly reluctant to pick it up and try reading it again.
I am the first person to admit that Stephenie Meyer is the most amazing writer, but I think she should stick with the vampires, because SciFi fantasy does not seem to be her genre.
I will admit however that since I am so used to her style of writing with Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse, I may have been expecting too much from her, because nothing can hold a candle to those books, so I may be a little biased in my review. sweatdrop
I don't mean to offend any of you who loved this book, this is just my personal opinion.
