How It Ended
Since 2045 American scientists have been researching ways to bring back our loved ones from the grave. In 2070, we did and now soldiers, workers, even old ladies are after all of us for our life energy. What we created, no what we gave birth to was a monster that lives off the life force of others like a parasite, or as we call them, life vampires. They look like people, sure, but the holes and brittle nature of their skin shows them not to be. It was only a matter of time before our little experiment had gotten out to the public, and infected them. As it turns out once a life vamp sucks enough life it turns human, but the host trades places. Sadly most never get the luxary of life and become husks because the process was stopped midway leaving both as husks as it were. In 2073 the entire United States was quarentined leaving those who survived to live in various military bunkers. I am Captain Lance McAllister and I am one of the last survivors in defense base 1121 which operates just out of New York City, or what's left of it. Some of us who live here are soldiers, protecting the civilians. I was an engineer, but now, I am a survivor.

The Base Layout The Base is about five miles from New York City and is shaped like a giant half mile wide and long equilateral triangle. Its automated defenses, kept up by solar power and geothermal energy, consist of large turrets, medical drones, and maintenance drones. There are three entrances and each have been reinforced with titanium and the turrets dot the outside of the complex as well as various points inside. At the top point, which faces New York City, Is entirely devoted to the soldiers. It has an armory, barracks, and rec room all up to date with every technology America has to offer. The bottom part of the triangle acts as a home for a thousand people. The only problem is supplies which are running low in the base forcing the soldiers to hunt. It will only be a matter of time before the soldiers must go into the city.

Profile Skeleton [size=9] Username: Character Name: Age: Gender:
Weapons: Guns are not that much different from the guns now. The difference is that you can customise the gun any way you like because of the armory and the new technology. Also keep in mind that robotic science has increased so a gun scope linked to your eye at the touch of your temple is possible.
Specialty: My character is an engineer so I can fix things and make them with ease. Simply putting soldier will not due so put something like heavy weapons or demolitions and so on and so forth.
Belongings: Like in the normal profile I want to see what your character keeps with him or her at all times to help define him or her.
Personality: It can be as blunt or as descriptive as necessary.
Description: A written description of your character and please go into detail but not to the point of making people sick after reading it.
Bio: I ask that this be a decent length only so that people have an idea of what you may do and also this is a great reference for you to look at should you either need an inspiration of something to talk about or to simply react in the way your character should in a certain type of situation. Enemies Life Vampires: They were people once but now they are slow moving husks that use mob tactics to sate their hunger for life. The way they do this is by sucking nutrients and cells through a hole in their hand until the other subject becomes another lifeless husk. Before it was a life exchange but since there are so many husks only one in one hundred will end up alive again and they can still be turned into a Life Vampire as soon as they are alive again. Recently we have seen more diverse kinds, it seems the more they have absorbed the faster they are. Horribly enough we have seen some climb buildings or even run which means we must pick them off first before we aim for the large group in an engagement. The slowest of the life vampires can do little harm and may just become corpses if they do not feed soon so we definatly see a corilation between feeding, and power.
Vultures: Any animal, mostly dogs, that has been infected now feasts off of flesh. They move fast but are mostly lone animals that can be picked off from a distance. But meeting a large group up close can be fatal to say the least.
Revers: Androids who were first created to protect man kind have been victims of a conflict in their programming and now fire on everything that moves. They are fairly rare to see for most have run out of energy or have simply shut themselves down until a new master comes to claim them. But inside New York City it is thought that many still hunt humans and Life Vampires alike.
Remnants: People that have survived and have become savages. They have salvaged what's left of guns and other weapons and live off infected things and normal things alike which has given them animal like senses. Many of the bases soldiers have been attacked by these savages, but so far we see them as a mild threat since they are easily killed and low in number.

((Once people start joining I will merely post scenarios oh and for those in the Latrocinium, yes I am that low as to copy an rp I put in there. Besides no one actually posted in there anyways so I am putting my creative genius to good use.)) Lance woke up with a start, a large boom sounded from above him which meant only one thing, vamps. He grabbed his MP5N and almost ran out without his pants which were thrown to him by a soldier going to help, clearly this had happened before. After stumbling for a few moments he got his pants on and ran over to a locker where he took out his boots and his jacket which he put on so fast it was like he did this every night. Another boom and machineguns started whizzing and he could here pounding on the metal doors he had helped construct. More soldiers came up with him on the stairs up to the room of the complex. What he saw there was fairly normal which eased his nerves."Alright you all know the drill, shoot the ones trying to climb the walls and chuck grenades in the mobs and make sure your shots count."Lance's voice was soft yet commanding and the soldiers seemed empowered by his presence. Lance ran up to the edge of the roof where they had placed a sand bag defense and began shooting off the side at the crawlers as it were and tossed a grenade down at a mob near the doors. A large thump and about twenty vamps were sent flying up, more then likely dead, for good this time."Jenkins watch that damn left side we always get one there and I don't care how much you want to shoot the main group."Cross didn't describe Lance's tone, since he was so nice it was more like a polite yell although the soldier did obey his orders and in fact shot a vamp on the side of the wall and then a few more and to everyone's dismay they made to the top and Jenkins was sucked dry."s**t, kill the ******** vamps ran at the soldiers but were no match and although it was hard to kill one of there own, he was no longer with a soul. This went on for a few hours and nothing more then the normal shooting happened and in the morning only a pile of carcasses lay around the base."Come on, lets get back to sleep and let the civilians take care of the mess and the wounded, our job is done here"The group solemnly went back to the barracks to rest until anything else happened.

The figure ossed and turned in bed slowly letting out a groan as he groggily opened and shut one eye. Ryan awoke from his slumber from the incessant yelling and bellowing alarms soon after. His eyes shot open and he threw the covers off like a live enemy frag. He got into his fatigues and placed his hand over the Bio-metric Scanner.
"Access Granted" appeared on the screen as a partition dropped down below. He crouched down as the Retinal Scanner went over his eye. A hiss sounded and the gun cage opened. By this time, he had already put all of his gear on. He slammed his weapons in their respective pockets and holsters. He charged out to the front lines just to catch McAllister giving Jenkins his orders. While passing his superior, he placed a hand on his shoulder and leaned up close to his ear as to overpower all the yelling, gunfire, and otherwise warzone sonance, "Perseverant bunch 'a ******** are they?"
He grinned at the officer with whom he formed a fairly close relationship with. It wasn't compromising to the natural heirarchy of the military but nor was it an annoyed tolerance. He jogged up to one of the turrets and let his rifle hang idly by his side. He turned the turret in the general direction of the masses and depressed the trigger. He occaisonally looked around as fire erupted out from the end of the barrel and hot lead hurdled towards the life vampires. Alexander was going to be sure the flanks remained intact and made sure to keep an ear open for calls for assistance. He repeated in his head...
Defense Base 1121 Will Not Fall... Defense Base 1121 Will Not Fall... As God as my witness, it will not fall... Over my dead body will it fall... ...over my dead body.

Lance had stayed back and patted Ryan on the back as they were leaving."Well at least Jenkins is in a better place now, a place where he doesn't have to deal with this bull s**t anyways. Well at least the damn people won't b***h about how we could do more now that Jenkins was killed. If they do let it be known that snapping the neck of a person is merciful compared to what most would actually consider, especially that god damned mayor. You think he would be more greatful seeing as though we saved his a** from being eaten when we retreated to this base."As they approached the barracks Lance stopped and told Ryan his plan."We will run out supplies soon, everyone knows it and no one wants to think about what we will need to do. I am going to assemble a team to go out into the city, I could use you on that mission but you know I won't force you. We'll be taking the best transport vehicle we have, that SCORP APC we have. I need a guy who knows how to work sensors and keep a command center up, you know anyone?"Lance smirked since it was obvious he was implying Ryan but he was being truthful, he wouldn't force him to do it.

Alexander nodded at his superiors reply, "Effing mayor always bitches and moans about our 'carelessness'. His true colors really show hiding in that underground bunker of his while his citizens get mauled...or take refuge here." Ryan checked his rifle as he turned to go into the barracks but was stopped by McAllister and turned around. Lance's voice was hushed almost like it was secrt he was telling although everyone knew the truth.
Alexander smirked, "I think a know someone although you gotta be careful with him, he has a tendency to blow things up." He smiled and continued, "Sexy too...'Bout six foot three...220-225 pounds. If I didn't go for the ladies...I'm tellin' ya." Ryan rubbed his chin while he though about it, "You know I'm your go-to-guy, sir. You want me...you got me. Will you be joining me, sir? Or will I be relaying information back to you?" Alexander looked up to McAllister greatly. He valued him as much as a brother -- an older brother. Lance never forced him to do anything. He merely "suggested" and all "suggestions" Ryan took as an order. He knew how to keep a Mobile Command Center up and running. He just never did it when it was this desperate and when morale was this low. He hoped he still had as much charisma as his instructors always made it sound.
((What rank am I? Am I gonna be like another grunt or like a second in command or something since you and I are basically runing the show right now? You can assign me a rank. You know what the storyline is gonna be like.))

((Lance doesn't actually think of ranks anymore and neither do the troops. But as it is the non NPC's are running this place and think of eachother as equals although Lance has pretty much made himself the one who takes the heat for things and this has made him sort of the unofficial leader. But as your character does every soldier respects him and follows his very polite orders which come off as suggestions.))
He smirked at his companion's first remark and responded accordingly."Yeah so I know you are coming but who is this guy?"Lance smiled and then suddenly worried his joke had been too mean and took on a more serious tone."Now, I was only joking so don't take me seriously. As for your job I'll be with you until the team has secured the area since my skill is better suited in the tech field like you. So shall we?"Lance began walking again and they went into an elevator which would go to secondary door for their mission.

Ryan hit his superior playfully on the arm and smirked. As Lance continued, Ryan listened intently and replied, "Very well, sir. It'll be a pleasure to have you aboard, sir. I shall go prepare APC, then, sir?" He looked on as the barracks where the men were starting to assemble ondering what other men were going to be joining them. He was going to let himself be surprised. Leaving it up to McAlliser was the widest thin kto do. He sometimes knew you better then you knew yourself.

Lance nodded and then pointed at the APC."Assign George Thomson to the gunner, as we all know he has the best aim with an LMG. Without question Eddie is our driver and the twins are the side turret operators. Those Menca brothers will eventually drive me insane with their twin-ness, if that's even a word. I would do it myself but I need to obtain the necessary equipment for the mission."Lance was never good at giving orders and this just made him seem more kind hearted. Lance walked to another soldier who pointed to several crates which two soldiers opened to reveal several computer chips and two tech link arm attachments. Lance fitted the metal device on to his arm which put nano bots into his blood stream which linked with his brain. He inserted two of the computer chips and Lance put his hand out straight and several cords came out and then retracted. Then he put his arm up and released a small emp."Alright, good work soldier. Give the soldier who found these a comendation and call Ryan over when he's done giving orders, he's gonna love this."Lance walked over to a small room and went inside. He sat down on a chair and closed his eyes and pictured the faces of every man he ever lost in his head and wept into his hands. Eventually a soldier would come and get him, but Lance liked to think they didn't actually know what he really did in the room before any mission.

Ryan made mental note of everyone he mentioned making agreement with all recommended members. Ryan nodded as the two soliders departed. He walked into the barracks and yelled out at the top of his lungs, "ATTENTION!"
All the chattering came to a halt and all men gathered around Alexander as he took a deep breath. He clasped his hands together and yelled out, "Listen up, gentlemen. George Thomson, Eddie, and the Menca brothers, come with me." The named men stepped out of the crowd and came to a different room with Ryan. They stood in a circle and Alexander admitted, "We all know supplies are low and we will run dry soon. That's why a search party is going out...we are gonna be it. Thomson, you are on our gunner. Eddie is driver adn the twins are on our side turret operators. McAllister and I are going to be running the electronics and serving as APC Commander." He paused for a moment, "Any questions? Good. Get ready to roll."
The men disembarked to the barracks to gather up equipment and prepare their stations on the SCORP. Ryan then went to go find Lance. He finally saw him sitting in a small room crying. Ryan leaned up against the frame for a few moments. He silently walked up behind his leader and placed one hand on each shoulder. He said softly, "I miss them, too." He let a long moment of silence go by or a response from Lance before adding in, "But, they will NOT die in vain."

Lance was ashamed to have been caught and he stood up drying his eyes."Not this time anyway."Lance patted Ryan on the arm to show he was ok and then walked towards the APC."By the way, go and get your tech arm, we found two some how and the EMP's and interface tools will be useful to the mission."Lance pointed at the APC and the back to the tank like vehicle opened up and the soldiers scurried inside as did Lance who sat down next to the comm system with an empty chair to his left which was reserved for Ryan.

Ryan affairmed McAllisters comment by nodding and calling out, "No, sir." Alexander then returned the pat and started walking with Lance until orered to get his tech arm. Ryan groaned and walked over to the barracks to get it. He disliked tech arms. he though they got in the way in combat. I thought that although they helped operation, they inhibited any suprise attack or weapon operation that was required.
Nevertheless, he walked up and put the arm on. he pressed a button and the nanobots linked up the device with his electrical impulses. He then sighed and walked up to the APC. He grabbed his rifle and brought it in with him. He set it in a weapon holder to the left of his chair and then opened up a compartment in which he put all of his combat gear ready to be put on in case he needed to take the fight outside.
