I know I haven't been here in ages. Grad school and pregnant drug addicts have been eating my life. For those thoroughly confused, I work in drug treatment with pregnant women.

Anywho, I won a vacation to Fort Lauderdale and the Bahamas! Does anyone know of any really great, electronic of course, clubs in the area? I want scummy, "everyone is on something", cuddle puddle clubs. No hipsters allowed. Best if no alcohol is served, but beggars can't be choosers!

Trance, breaks, and progressive house would be the music of preference.

In lieu of the old schoolers not being from South Florida. This is a "catch up" thread. surprised

Fort Lauderdale is a hellhole. I urge you to sell your tickets on craigslist.

Thanks for the s**t post.

I spent a small amount of time in Ft. Lauderdale last year and I liked it fine. We've already planned several nature-type outdoor outings. I was simply looking for a decent club in either Ft. Lauderdale or Miami.

If by nature you mean "beach" or "empty parking lot".

By the looks of it, you haven't got much to work with. Unless you don't mind going to a gay club.

Beach, snorkeling out in the reefs, and the Everglades. I should have mentioned that we got a free rental car so we're going all over south Florida.

I don't mind a gay club. I went to Ultra and Miami seemed pack with decent clubs, but we were only there for 2 days and Ultra took up most of that time.

I don't like those listing sites because you can never tell how a club will be. I absolutely hate "hipster" parties. I was horribly duped this New Year's into going to a horrific House party that was full of hipsters, horrible music, and bad vibes. The headliners canceled and they played BET on the TV all night.

Where's the old school clubs? sad

*snicker*

You won't know until you go. Calling and asking what kind of stuff the DJs usually spin is probably a good bet.

I will indeed! Maybe we can ask some staff at the hotel. It's a resort and it's bound to have some skeevy people working there.

We're also taking our laptop and have wireless access so maybe we can find some local forums.

Waveform I've actually...never considered that. I'm also just so tired of being disappointed. The "scene" in Tennessee is just horrible. When there are clubs to be found they are dominated by horrible music and the "college thugs". When there are special events they just suck. If the music is good the crowd sucks. It never fails. And for me, atmosphere can kill a party. I went to a psytrance party a few years ago that had incredible music (in Atlanta), but the crowd was all total grumpy a*****e hippies. I didn't even think there was such a thing! Seriously, they all smelled funny, were clearly Boho rejects, in their own little world, and of some sort of hallucinogen. Now I have no issues with drugs at clubs (clearly) but it made them all jerks. mad
