In the darkness, is where you are. I'm away from you, but your my star.
I count every minute, when we're broken apart. Sometimes even seconds, but you're still my star.
I can't wait, I can't think, when I'm away from you, but we're finally together, my agony is through.

The NothingnessThere is nothingness, Coming from my soul. Throughout the cavern’s of my blood, There is no more to be soiled. Knowing that I am in love, Can it fill the void? Hoping it can… Waiting is what I’ll do. Watching the television in my head The screen seems too hazy, To even make out the visions Of my past ever so crazy Why must I be this… this thing, Something that is flawed. I need a wing Just to take me to my rightful place. But something is keeping me from my goal. Is it the one I love? If it is, he is withering beyond the coal, For the nothingness is my dove.

Red ThreadA legend say’s When two true lovers find each other, A red thread would forever bound, Their hearts together as one. But how can that be? If I did find my only lover, Yet he left me broken inside, Where there’s no longer a heart. He left me though the sands of time, To be lost within its dunes. I soon fall through the pages of history, Finding everything that I once loved. Catching on to something so thin, I look at the page I’ve stopped at. We are together one again, And the red thread in my hand, holding me still. He is at the end, my dear lover, So we are forever bound. By these ink-filled pages and the grains of sand. In the end, we will be entwined in the eternal red thread.

I wrote this as an English II assignment. Hope you enjoy.
Reflection
You stare at yourself in the shattered mirror With Eyes as dark as night, And skin so pale like moon light. You wish to see someone different, Someone whose eyes are not sorrowful Whose milky skin is not covered with scars. A pond perhaps may serve as a better mirror. One that can not be broken or tossed in the trash, only drained of all its water as time passes. Of course, the water will fluctuate. At points it will be shallow, overflowing its bank, filled with raging waves, or smooth and calm. But this mirrors glass can be replaced, So when broken all is not lost.

Before posting, I would like, if I may, to apologize for the great length of the poem I plan on submitting. But, you seem generous, and I hope you will grant me some of yuor time to read this simple, lengthy poem. Its rhyme is simple, and its content has been deemed cliche by many readers, but I humbly ask that you give it a chance. Enjoy.
“I Am Not Afraid” I’ve spent my life in solitude, My vanity’s disguise A perversion of my ego, Of all that I’d despised “Is this reverence mere penance? For the sin of this disguise Is just the price, the restitution, And the fire in my eyes.” Seeking desperately the cause: “How have I spent this time?” Under darksome countenance, I’ve sought the reason to my rhyme And past a time of questioning Came disillusioned hate Through the painful desolation, And the paradox of fate Through a naive influence Was shaped the hate within As traces of this melancholy Were whispered in the wind But one-day fire fades to ash, As ash returns to dust And that ever-burning flame Shall so, too, lose its lust “Everything returns to shadow, Life shall lose its fire.” Forsaken words as I, the writer, Sought a new desire And through the passing of the dusk, Light must take its form Just as well, the dawn must break, With the passing of the storm So, now with strength undying, And with knowledge of my past I’ll stoke the flame of my ambition, And I know that it shall last Unlike the fleeting, ember’s haze I clung to years before This ensorcelling, burning blaze Shall guide me through the door I live to bring the solace For a past that brings me shame I live to love, to change the world, And they all shall know my name! The road to hell is paved with blood, Redemption’s bought with tears But no matter which I choose, I know I’ll have no fears Angel’s hands shall guide my path, Let love now show the way! And all the courage given me Shall bring the strength to say: “I am not afraid.” I’m not afraid of those who try To stop me on my way I never fear the thought of dying On some distant day For to fear would only hinder This path that took so long To finally see, to have the faith To trust in right from wrong My guardian star shall lend me courage, To guide me on my way I’ll pass that strength to the entire world, They’ll rise together, and say: “I am not afraid.” Let no fear e’er touch us, Let doubt ne’er cross our minds For the power of the human heart, It’s something we must find Not necessarily on our own, So may we join in hand And rise above the binding hate Here, now, we make our stand Let hatred never blind our eyes, Let the sword of anger rust Peace now, we’ll have, and ever more If we can learn to trust In each and every human being, If we can learn to see That all of us have all the strength To be whatever we wish to be On my long and troubled road, I’ve found the light of day I’ll bring this light to you, my friends, And with it, strength to say “I am not afraid.” This light entails no mystery Any man can see That the ever burning love That’s shared thru you and me Belongs to each and every man We all can share this love And we’ll cry out our freedom now Far to heaven above For to truly find this love Of an eternal lover Is just as easy, if not more, As realizing we’re all brothers A house divided cannot stand, United we are one This is ours, our Kingdom Come Ascending towards the rising sun If we deny the rights of each And every human being Our Kingdom falls, our creed deceives, It’s as miserable as not seeing That we all have all the strength To heed what here is said And finally call the shining light To say: “I am not afraid.”

(I again apolgize beforehand at the length of my poems, its just that my long poems happen to be the best ones, so...again, sorry).
Reckoning
They reckon me a heretic, A heathen and a harlot The blood within, therefore, must bleed A lesser shade of scarlet Collective truths demean my kind I'm branded as unfit In judgement I'm forsaken In dark lament I sit A renegade pariah A harbinger of "lies" They label me inferior While silencing my cries "Can anything but hate be his? Can he know of light?" They preconceive my destiny They know nothing of my plight For my worth goes far beyond Fealty to the Master I once fell in darkness, yes, Falling falling, ever faster I once was he who sold his soul For power of the rage Of the abyss, of Satan's flame Locked within a blackened cage The herald of oblivion, I was the nihilistic King A pagan prince of dark desire An evil, wicked thing But the Master's chains no longer bind My spirit now runs free I'll cast aside this coil's pain And I'll show them all; they'll see That I am not dejection's form To no man or God I bend I fight for home and fight for hearth For peace I do defend In a world without a savior, I am a champion of love A seraphim on silver wings Soaring towards skies above And when I face my deathly dues I'll fear not my dying day For when I stand before the eyes of God The Lord, by God, shall say: "You who are truly grateful, Your judgement day is here And I shall deem you worthy You have naught to fear but fear You've lived a life in darkness, You've cursed the life I've given You shall be absolved, my child On this one condition: Surrender now, give me your heart Come stand with me in Heaven Sacrifice the life you loved And the love that you call Devon." As I stand before the Lord, I will not have a choice, But to rise, with sword in hand And my conviction will be voiced: "Oh, Your Great Omnipotence, I fear I cannot yield For here now let me speak a truth, To the Creator now revealed: I cannot give the one I love, Not for eternity nor splendour For I made a promise to my love I would stand by her forever, Forsaking even the Kingdom of God And if that would mean perdition Then damn my soul, my regal Lord, For I cannot forsake ambition." Not even in the face of God Will I bend to my knees I stand stalwart in my plight To love the one who, too, loves me In the end, at my road's close When my redemption has been earned When I can die at last with peace When the flame no longer burns They all shall know what lived within This humble soul that beckoned To light, to hope, to peace, to love, No fear of being reckoned A coward, cur, or cursed beast Just wishing for your heart In your love's embrace I am released And I was right from the start So, here, now, let them reckon me As a worthless devil hated We'll withstand their scorn forevermore Thru love that's unabated So, here, now, let them reckon us, On our flight past Heaven No scorn, no reckoning can e'er Break my love for you....Devon.
(Writer's note: For those who couldn't have guessed, Devon is the name of my girlfriend...my one and only.)

Here's a more recent work of mine, qquite shorter than the other two I've posted (again, I apolgize for their length, but to cut them down is, to me, to do an injustice to my work). I hope you enjoy it, and perhaps my next poem I post will be resaonably shorter.
Homecoming: The Call of the Ancestors
In the springtime twilight, I wake to Raven’s call With vague and distant traces Within the Hammer’s fall This blood that pounds throughout my veins Is tainted and impure By generations of injustice This sickness has no cure My race had been disparaged, Thru fury of the stranger's storm My only rite of passage Being this motley form I long to be the product Of my heritage’s plight I long for consecration In the glory of Odin’s light Valhalla, send your Valkeryies, To Asgard take me high! With the glory of my ancestors The time for redemption is nigh! The pantheon is calling me, The dragon ships do wait! To bring me back to home and hearth My blessed Godly fate This homecoming has been put off For ages far too long I hear the crying of the anvil It sings the Hammer’s song I'm coming home, to Nordic lands A child of the frost And all the years of viking pride I know shall not be lost I'm coming home, the spirits call They beckon my return Back to ancient battlefields Where the blaze of hearth-fire burns With hammer, glory, a soul of steel I return to the distant shores And the calling ancestors speak to me: "The long waited return is yours."
