I went to the Austin concert on the 23rd, and it was possibly the best thing I have ever experienced. Sure, the last time I saw Rush was pretty cool, but this time they added three or four songs that are on the top of my list of favorites: Red Barchetta, the Trees, 2112, and Ghost of a Chance. I also had a good conversation with some old people before the concert started. They were "wondering" what my hand made "I LOVE LERXST" T-shirt meant... I'm pretty sure these old a**, die-hard fans were just testing me, though. It was almost as if they thought that a sixteen year old being as big a fan as them was impossible. So, I spread my Rush knowledge with the other knowledgeable Rush fans in my section, and my tag-along friend just sat there, knowing nothing about my favorite band. At least she realized how awesome Rush's songs are.
Anyways, Alex dropped his pick right at the beginning of the Freewill guitar solo. He looked pretty pissed off at himself as he rolled up his sleeve to grab a new pick, and then played his little heart out. I swear to God, it was like he was trying to make it up to everyone for being old and having arthritis. It was adorable.
He plays less Gibson 335 and more Les Paul now... it's pretty depressing. Oh yeah, did I mention he looked at me? Yeah, it was awesome. My future husband and I had a moment.
Neil also dropped a drum stick... twice. It made me pretty sad to think that my idols are getting too old to hold on to their instruments. Neil did made my night, though when he made funny faces while drumming. It made me extremely happy to see someone so seemingly serious be so fun... even if it was just for a second or two. He really was having a lot of fun towards the end of the concert.
Geddy didn't mess up or anything, but he wouldn't get close enough for me to take a decent picture. mad Whatever, he sang awesomely and played awesomely. He's also pretty cute as a Scotsman (you'll get it when you see it for yourself).
Here are my lame cell phone pictures:

And now I'm depressed that it's over.
I want to see them again already. sad
