There are spirits everywhere. That tickle across your skin, the smallest tap of wind chimes, the cool breath on your windowpane in autumn, and the movement that catches the corner of your eye. But no longer can we properly see or feel them as our ancestors may have been able to. Not until they regain corporeal form, that is..
They are the Hiccups, the naturally unnatural, those brought to new life through old magic. But not by their own accord, and not without a little help from a seemingly crazy, certainly eccentric shaman lady..
Welcome to the Kite Flying Festival hosted by the shop simply called Hiccups! If you aren't already aware of us or what we do, click the above text banner to visit the main page. Thank you for your visit and we hope to see you around more and more!

Note: any and all rules from the main thread apply here. Common sense, people, just don't cause trouble, X3.
A little kite flying festival is set up just outside of Barton atop a hilly region. There are a few tents with vendors of all sorts, many picnic tables with an abundance of free food, and plenty of people filling out the area chatting leisurely. It seems you're just in time!
Join in whenever, however you'd like. Please stay in character in this thread. (:
If you haven't brought a kite with you, move to the kite building and decorating area!
If you're a little hungry, maybe the picnic area is a nice place to meet people while stuffing your face.
If you're looking for a little trouble, check out the Mischief post.
If you feel like a little competition, bring your kite to the hilly areas and roll your dice - er, I mean, catch some wind!

This area is pretty straightforward. There are a dozen tables spread out with supplies in abundance: wooden pieces, string of all colours, and plenty of decorations for your kites!
If this is your first time making a kite, feel free to bother one of the festival volunteers [they're approachable Gaians of all walks of life, make one up if you need one for roleplay purposes (: ] or pick up one of the instruction booklets if you're feeling crafty. Don't worry about not getting it right the first time; like we said, there are PLENTY of supplies for you to go through, hehehe!
Decoration supplies include, but are not limited to: - sparkles - sequins - googly eyes - long streamers - fabric paint - patterned shoelace - large and small buttons
Once you're done making your kite, move along to the competition fields to let that thing taste the air for the first time! .. or perhaps the grass a few more times than that, hehehe..

Fields and fields galore! There should be enough space to that one doesn't knock into the other, but who knows how busy this place will be, especially mid-day. Play it as you see it! Also, please remember to keep in character. If your kite flying gets a little predictable, why not move along to the picnic for a while before trying again?
Just to make things interesting and push them along, we'll turn this into a roll of the dice sort of game. When your kite is in the air, or you are trying to get it to fly, roll a 6 sided die. The below chart will let you know what happens to your kite! [Don't worry if you forget to roll for a post, just continue the last roll you made into the next post.] The roll affects the following roleplay response you make after your roll.
If you rolled a.. 1 : Your kite hits a thermal and rises!
If you rolled a.. 2 : Your kite sails smoothly just a few feet above your head.
If you rolled a.. 3 : Your kite crashes into the grass or a nearby tree! Oh no!
If you rolled a.. 4 : Your kite wobbles in the air and dips lower. If you were trying to get it off the ground, then give it another try, you just about had it!
If you rolled a.. 5 : Your kite begins to get tangled with someone else's string. What happens is up to you!
If you rolled a.. 6 : Your kite sails strong and high.
There's no REAL competing going on here, but if you're looking for someone to compete with and do find a challenger, see who can keep theirs afloat longest with the above rolling system in tact. Remember to be a gracious loser or winner, regardless! (;

Yumyumyum, what a feast! Don't worry about who's paying, this stuff's for the taking. A wide range of foods, both local and exotic, fill three entire picnic tables that are pushed together for local.
Foods include, but are not limited to: - corn on the cob - turkey sandwiches - blueberries and whipped cream - coolers of juice boxes and sodas - potatoes in many shapes and forms - fish dishes - chicken strips - cake
Dig in! And maybe make a new friend or two at the cooler, (:

This is where the reeeeeal fun begins, hehehe..
A Hiccup will be spawned from this festival! [Okay, I don't work miracles, so the actual birth of the Hiccup will be later in real time, but deal, ;D. ] The shapeshifter woman is out and about, and you might even run into her once or thrice during this festival and not bat an eye in suspicion. She's really good at concealing her identity like that, and plus, where there's fun, she's probably there, running amuck, making a mess of things!
The catch?
The soul or spirit has to have something to do with flight and/or air, going along with the theme of the festival.
The prompt is very very simple: put your dream Hiccup into a position of mischief making. What are they doing, and are they caught? Personalize it to fit your concept!
This Hiccup would be of the Spring influence. A Hiccup birthed in Spring can be.. impulsive, persistent, tentative, not quite self assured, servile, more emotionally unstable, clumsy, and adaptable.
Response form Username:Guardian Name:Guardian's Occupation or major pastime: Hiccup's Name:Gender:Spirit: [Be as descriptive as necessary! Please include means of death.] Vessel: [Include reference pictures if you believe it to be necessary.] Why that spirit?: [Just a short answer, please! No need to go into deep philosophical analysis.] Why that vessel?: [See above.] Three physical attributes and how they relate to the spirit and/or vessel:Two prominent Seasonal attributes: [This flatsale's Season is Spring.] Prompt Response: [In full paragraphs, preferably third person narrative. Answer to the best of your ability.]

Thank you Corbis for providing the images used for the banners, <3.
The ending ceremony will be a fireworks display on the last day of the festival. Be there, also, for the judging of the Mischief Maker contest! (:
