I've seen lots of anime and I'm starting to get into manga. Can anyone recommend a good "first"?

Hana Kimi or Fruits basket.
They are two of the best mangas ever made!!
5 or 6 more fruits basket books still need to come out in america but only 1 more of hana kimi.
Both of them are very funny and are always enjoyable to read. biggrin
Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece are also some of the most AMAZING series I've ever read! I'd HIGHLY suggest reading them. Although neither of them are finished and are upto 40 something books for all 3. sweatdrop
DN Angel is also amazing but the artist stopped drawing it for a long time but i'd still suggest reading it.
Pet shop of horrors is good if u want it to be sort of creepy. And Death Note is much better than pet shop of horrors in the creepy/suspense kind of manga and it's so worth reading! (although I don't like the ending. >.<)
Fullmetal Alchemist is an absolutely amazing story. A DEFINITE READ!! I would say the same thing in a different way about Skip Beat because it is absolutely phenomenal! biggrin
If you want to read a manga that's realistic (sort of) and about a convention, read Dramacon. but it's sort of romantic at parts, but it's also only a 3 book series, which is easy to come by.
There are also some mangas that are fairly provocative. I don't like the real provocative ones. But some funny ones are Chobits, Love Hina, and Dears.
On another note, here are some that I really like: Tramps Like us, Vampire Knight, Mugen Spiral, Beauty Pop, Boys Over Flowers, Absolute Boyfriend, Chibi Vampire, Case Closed, Sugar Sugar Rune, Kare Kano, Midori Days, Wallflower, Imadoki, Ultra Maniac, Wish, +Anima, Alice 19th, Loveless, Ouran High Host Club, Full Moon, W Juliet, Red River, D-Gray man, Godchild, Angel Sanctuary, Kare First Love, Pretty Face, Her Majesty's Dog, MAR, Magic Knight Rayearth, Kitchen Princess, Banner of the Stars, Psychic Academy, Punch!, Buso Renkin, and Vampire Game.
Umm....I know that's a whole lot of series and those are only my favorite series that I can actually think of right now...which means there's a whole lot more that I know of. sweatdrop
So, if you can give me a few specific genres, I can get a better idea of what would be good to start you off with. biggrin
((Btw, I only own like 120-130 manga books. I borrow a lot, read online, and need more. 3nodding xd ))
