NOTICE: This thread was closed down due to lack of active participation. You can find the new version here: Batman Continuous Story (Re-Made)(The premise for this thread is simple-- I will start the plot rolling with this post and others may subsequently add to the story as they see fit, provided, of course, that they do not troll, spam, or otherwise misbehave. Also, be sure to follow all the guild and sub-forum rules, lest ye incur my wrath. evil Anyway, have fun! Now to begin our story...) Bruce started awake, his body drenched in a cold sweat. It took him a few moments to shake off the effects of the dream he'd just had, and he sat up, rubbing his temples. The morning light drifted in through the partially opened blinds and he glanced about him, trying to prepare himself to face the coming day.

Aflred strode into the room with brisk efficiency, bearing a laden tray. "Ah, good, you're awake. I see you remembered your appointment with the ladies' charity this morning." He frowned at Bruce's blank stare.

Bruce doesn't say anything. He just stares his hands and Alfred asks from him: "What's wrong, sir? You don't seem to be fine today. Are you getting sick?" Bruce awakes from his mind. "It's... nothing... Just a bad dream, that's all...", he says and rises from the bed. But suddenly he starts feeling dizzy.

He managed to catch himself before he lost his balance though, and scowled. This was not the time to be having fainting spells, particularly with all that had been going on lately. He crossed the room and swiped a piece of bacon off the tray Alfred was holding, wolfing it down as he started to dress.

Alfred was not fooled. "A bad dream does not leave you paler than the sheets." He pointed to a chair. "Sit down before you fall." As he assessed Bruce's pulse and temperature, he muttered, "This wouldn't be the first time you've plead illness to avoid a morning appointment, though usually it's a bruise or cut that cannot be concealed."

Bruce grimaced. "True," he said. "But I don't think I would get much rest even if I did cancel on them."
Alfred raised a grizzled eyebrow. "Ohh?"

"This feels like Crane...or Isley. I'll need to run an analysis of my blood, before I metabolize whatever this is."

Alfred nodded. "Very good, sir. I'll set things up in the lab for you straight away."

(I give up waiting for anyone else)
Bruce attempted to stand once again. Vertigo won this time, and he hit the floor before Alfred could catch him.

"Master Bruce!" The aged butler knelt down beside the prone man, quickly checking him over; he hoped, whatever malady this was, that it wasn't as serious as he feared.

Bruce was once again sweaty and shaking. "Get me downstairs," he ordered through clenched teeth. With Alfred supporting him on one side, he rose on unsteady legs. Alfred privately resolved to call Dr. Tomkins [did I spell that right?] if Bruce did not improve on the trip to the Cave.

((--Shrugs-- "Tomkins" looks alright to me. 3nodding ))
Once down in the subterranean depths below the manor, Alfred eased Bruce into a chair, and then set about making the necessary preparations for a blood analysis test. The younger man watched him work quickly but diligently, teeth gritted as he leaned forward. Once everything was in place the old butler turned, giving a small nod.
"You may begin whenever you're ready, sir."
"Good. Although I'll probably need your help."

Alfred drew the necessary samples, while Bruce dictated what, and how much, of various agents he wanted placed in each tube. The results appeared faster than either man expected.
"My word!" Alfred exclaimed.

Bruce furrowed his brow. "It's just as I feared," he said.
((And I'm gonna wait to see if anyone else comes up with something first before I proceed.))
