Now for my favorite of favorites of all the lizards (in my yard), THE ANOLE!!! Although not as well known as their relatives, the iguanas, they are still very popular and easily cared for, and so far I've caught 5 different species, the green, brown, large-headed, crested, and knight anole. So please only post about anoles in this forum.

I have only caught one species that live at my granparent's house. Green anole. I have also heard they are called the american chameleon.
I love seeing them bask on the leaves. ^^;

Well, only the green anole is NATIVE to the US, the rest are either shipped for the pet trade or introduced with exotic plants. The second most abundant species in the US is the brown anole (Anolis sagrie) and I've found this species in Dallas, Texas, east to coastal northern Florida, south to the Keys, of course this is from personal experience, and they were only colonies in humid subtropical climates. This includes all of southern Florida, some areas of the other Gulf states, as well as nurseries for exotic and nonnative plants where they have heated and well watered greenhouses where various species of reptiles and amphibians thrive...

Well I think I might have seen a brown anole. ^^ We were at chili's, and when we cam out there were three or more in the rocks near the building. They looked different from the green anoles I am used to. But they were still so cute! xD Also, they seemed bigger. O_o

Green anoles sure are cute. They sure are fast little buggers. I normally won't handle anoles because unlike other herps they stress out very easily. I will get on my hands and knees and fallow them around though. If only anoles were more social sad
In the pet trade anoles sure are abused. They throw them out at carnivals and fairs like candy. I guarantee you only 10% of anoles that are prizes at fairs will live to see their next shed. I also see them all bunched up in a little enclosure at pet stores. For a $10 lizard their set-ups can cost just as much as a bearded dragons. Often people overlook them to be a cheap lizard. It's sad really.
