Apartment 127, like all apartments in this complex, has a red door and the apartment number is posted above the peephole in brass numbers.
Alex's apartment is different from the others in some aspects. The door opens up to a living room in which there is a fairly generously sized TV that rests in front of a big caramel colored suede couch. The couch is pushed up against a wall that made completely of glass, which, on one end, opens up to the pool. Privacy is ensured by vertical blinds that run the whole length of the massive window. A door in the living room leads to a guest bathroom; it has no shower, just a comode and sink. Another door leads to Alex's bedroom.
Adjacent to the living room is the dining area. In the middle of this space is a table big enough to seat eight. The four legs of the table dig into a beige rug with contemporary designs of shapes and colors. Next to the dining area is the kitchen with a black and white motif.
Along the same wall as the massive window, Alex's bedroom window lies. Her room shares a wall with the living room. It has the same view of the pool, but provides more privacy for Alex. A door in her bedroom leads to the bathroom.
[In the pic of the pool, the room on the lowest floor, with the big window, on the left side, is Apartment 127]

Alex led Victoria out of the office holding her steady as they went. She turned the knob on the door. She always keeps this door unlocked for sheer trust in her residents. She ushered the trembling girl inside the apartment which was given an orange hue due to the setting sun shining through the huge windows.
Once inside, Alex immediately cursed herself. The apartment was cold. She like it to be that way. She left Victoria in the open doorway as she ran into her bedroom, then through it to the bathroom. She went in there and grabbed a big, soft towel. Then she thought, Wait. She's not wet.. Completely abandoning the towel idea, she threw it to the ground, ran to her bad and yanked off the big white down comforter.
With it she ran back to Victoria. She wrapped the girl up in it completely. It was big enough to cover her from head to foot. Alex reached behind her to push the door closed. She led the girl to the couch where the sun's rays would help with a hand on the small of her back. Once there and seated beside Victoria, she found Victoria's hands through the mass of white fluff and took them both in hers. She felt how cold and pink they were. She cupped them in hers and brought them to her lips. She blew in hot air onto Victoria's hands then kissed the fingertips. The latter part had no real explanation. She just wanted to do it.

It was definately turning out to be a cold night as it wore on. Dante was glad, in her infinate wisdom that she had brought the sweatshirt (though she would have been far more happy if she'd brought her keys) with her, for she was sure with the wet swimsuit on and the cold night air she would have been more than a little perky.
Flipflop clad feet made soft scratching noises across the pavement as she came to a stop outside Alex's door. She knew it was the right place, since the door said "Manager" across the front. True, she had an office, but this was where she lived.
Once, Dante had considered taking a job as an apartment manager. It meant free room, sure, but the times that she would have had to be available cut into the times she needed to be practicing or teaching.
One hand reached up, rapping sharply on the door to announce her presence. Shorts in one hand and her arms crossed over her chest, Dante desperately wished she could have made a better impression on the manager. For one thing, Alex was pretty, and the dancer had idiotically confirmed her name twice, unable to make any better conversation. Resisting the urge to chew on her lower lip, Dante just waited at the door, hoping Alex had not gone to bed just yet.

Upon reaching her apartment, Alex went in, the smile still lingering on her lips. She went straight to the huge window and pulled aside one of the blinds. She watched the ladies in the pool for just a moment. She also witnessed Dante's ascent from the cooling water. Yeah, she thought, it's getting chilly. They should all get out of the pool. I'd simply hate to take care of any sick patrons. That last though made her foolishly giggle at herself. Simply hate it.
Alex barely heard the knocking through the curtain of noise that fell around her in the form of warm water. She was rinsing off the chlorine from her body, mostly because she didn't like to sleep in that smell. It burns, to boot. In a rush, she reached down and turned the slippery knob to shut off the comforting shower. She stepped out, ducking her head to dodge the swimsuit that hung on the curtain rod. Her soaked feet landed on the soft bathroom rug. Had it not been there, Alex would surely have slipped in her haste.
Donning the same white robe and similarly soaked hair, Alex did not look any different from when she got out of the pool. She was in a small state of panic, again, for the nth time that day. Having not invited anyone to her apartment, someone being at her door only meant that something was invariably wrong.
She was still tying on her robe when she swung the door open. Alex was, for lack of a more suitable term, startled when she saw that it was Dante there. A hand went to her utterly soaked auburn hair in an attempt to make her look the least bit presentable in her current state. Now in considerably more panic, she spoke, also in a rush, just like the rest of her, internal organs and otherwise. "Dante! Come in, come in," she said, moving aside from the doorway to allow such a passage. "What's the matter?" quickly, she corrected herself. "I mean, what can I do for you?" She had a smile on, but her nerves peeked through her eyes, eager to know the reason for the visit.
Alex was still soaking wet, having not a second with which to dry any square inch of skin save for her face, which she had dabbed at with the sleeve of her robe prior to opening the door. The robe, which stopped at an inch or two above her knee, did nothing to conceal the droplets still relentlessly running down the manager's legs to soak the carpet.

As the bathrobed Alex opened the door, Dante felt her stomach and heart exchange places, and couldn't quite bring herself to answer. Struck dumb temporarily, she walked into the manager's apartment. She'd completely forgotten her reason for coming where in that moment, soaking up Alex's dishevled appearance as quickly as she could.
She looked... perfect. Even her hair, as mussed as it was, only made her seem all the more real and desirable in Dante's mind. The rushed speach completely went over the dancer's head, and she barely heard her anyway. Just in that brief glance, she'd been able to tell that Alex had just stepped out of the shower, she was too wet for it to have still been from the pool. Afterall, Dante looked dryer than Alex, and Dante had gotten out later than she.
"Oh uh.." Obviously Alex had asked her a question, and though the distracted Dante could guess what it was, she still hadn't remembered just what the answer was. Why had she come over? A blush sprang to her cheeks as she remembered, and she toyed with the zipper of her sweatshirt. "I feel really silly, but I managed to lock myself out of my apartment. I just really wanted to get a swim in tonight, I doubt it'll be this warm again at night until next year."

She followed Dante with her eyes as she slowly pushed the door closed after the patron's entrance. She scrunched her brows a bit at the noticable hesitation of the woman. Then, after the reason behind the visit was stated, it was Alex's turn to blush. For the second time, she mentally kicked herself for being so young and so stupid. Her mind wandered back to one event of the day that involved her ramming her shoulder against Net's door to open it....because Alex kept no spares.
"Umm..wow. Uhh.. okay. Here's the thing, Dante," she said, gulping down the embarrased dryness in her mouth. "I...don't have any keys to your apartment," Alex said slowly, with her back turned now to Dante as she walked ahead of the girl toward the kitchen. Luckily so, because Alex didn't want her blush to be seen, "or anybody's apartment, for that matter." Here she gave a small, nervous chuckle."
For a break in the current conversation, she asked over her robe-clad shoulder, "Please, have a seat anywhere. Can I get you anything to drink?" She threw her voice so that she could be heard from the kitched to the living room where the inviting couches would surely be chosen by Dante.
"I'm sorry, but, you're stuck out of your apartment for the night," she said from the adjacent room. "For one thing, I'm new at this...trade, and keeping spares never really crossed my mind," she imagined the currently invisible flinching Dante and guessed that the woman would now find her inept. That saddened Alex most of all. "I would call the locksmith tonight, but I've never really trusted them. Usually they're big, burly men. I can't stand that they have....infinite access. I wouldn't feel comfortable having a locksmith come to the Heights at night with all these young women living alone. It would be too easy and too tempting for a big, lonely, hairy, burly man." Alex nibbled at her lower lip in her state of mild self-loathing.

"Oh, well I don't blame you on the locksmith thing. I'd say we can break in through a window or something... but that might be something to attempt during the day when we're not going to have the cops called on us." Dante laughed easily as she came to the realization that her landlord was just as human as she was. "I don't really mind crashing on the couch as long as you don't mind. Um.. I probably need to borrow the shower too, or my hair will be green by morning."
Dante followed, slowly, Alex into the kitchen. She looked around as she walked, naturally curious about how someone else had arranged a similar apartment floor plan.
"Oh umm... do you have any tea?" She smiled, wondering if she'd be lucky enough to be able to borrow some clothing too, otherwise she would still reek of chlorine come morning.

Alex was in the middle of filling a glass with water from the pitcher she had retrieved from the fridge. Her eyes and complete attention flew to Dante just now entering the kitchen when she mentioned breaking a window. With wide eyes she protested, "No! No we don't need to--s**t!" She looked down at the spilled water on the floor. Unfortunately, she shook the glass that was filled to full capacity and beyond. The consequence of that action is a soaked left sleeve of a bathrobe and a hand. Alex sighed, placing the glass on the counter and pulling a white rag from one of the drawers beneath it. She continued to speak as she got to her knees to wipe up the mess she had made. Consequently, her robe, tied on in such haste, came loose enough to show some cleavage. This is, of course, unbeknownst to Alex.
"Yeah," she said, her face turned to the tiled floor as her arm moved back and forth to wipe up the cold liquid. "I don't mind. The couch is yours. The shower too, of course. And clothes, I imagine you'll want something to sleep in..." She trailed off, finishing her thought in her mind. Unless, of course, you wear your birthday suit to bed.
After sufficiently drying the floor, Alex stood up and threw the rag on the couter. She looked at Dante at her request for tea and smiled. "Tea. Coming right up." She rolled up her wet sleeve and proceeded to fill her kettle with water and place it on the stove. As it was heating up, she turned towards Dante and leaned against the counter. Alex folded her arms over her chest and crossed one leg over the other, causing nearly a full thigh to slip through her robe.
"I'll show you to my closet when the tea is ready for you," She smiled easily, automatically.

"Lovely. Autumn and Winter are the best time for tea." Dante smiled warmly, unzipping her sweatshirt and pulling it off. It was warm enough in the aparment she was going to be very warm very soon if she kept it on.
Dante was lean, now that Alex could get a good look at her not distorted by the water. Her breasts were far from full, but there was enough. Her swim suit was on the cold side, if their pert appearance was any indication. The black material of the suit clung to her form, outlining in sillouhette a flat tummy and baring slender shoulders. Had they not been covered by the towel, she had long legs, not an ounce too much of fat on them, lean muscle moving easily.
She plunked herself down onto a second chair, glancing over toward Alex before trying to make small conversation. "So... have you got a boyfriend?"

Alex didn't stare. At least, not a noticable amount. She did take note, however. A pleasant sight like that had to be branded into memory. She glanced behind her to check on the kettle then turned around as the question was asked. "Boyfriend? No, not me. Men just make me...angry." She chuckled quietly at her lame allusion to her sexuality. Then she tilted her head slightly to the side and gave a quizzical look. "What about you? Boyfriend?"
Just then, the kettle tore through the relative quiet of the apartment. Alex turned around to turn of the gas stove and lift reach up to pull a tea cup and saucer from the cabinet. She had to stretch up and stand on her tip toes to reach. Once she had it down, she poured the hot water into the cup. Pulling some tea from the same cabinet, but different level, she apologized. "Sorry..all I have is Earl Grey. I wish I could give you a choice. It's completely generic and weak, too. I haven't really had a chance to shop."
Alex turned and set the cup in front of Dante with the sugar and cream, then sat down across from her in a chair. It was then when she realized how inappropriately dressed they both were. She pulled her fingers through her drying hair, then adjusted the robe around her, bllushing just a little bit. She was embarrased at the lack of clothing she was wearing.

"Mmm thanks. I'm not picky about my tea unless I'm at my own place. But the caffiene could keep me up late." A soft smile as she plunked a teabag into her hot water, letting to steep.
A boyfriend? Now there was a complicated matter. How was she supposed to explain that?
"Well... no I'm single. I don't really date men, but that's a complication in and of itself. See.. I used to work at a club. I'm a dancer, and I've done ballet since I was little. But my parents died, and my last year of highschool I had trouble paying bills...?" Nervous suddenly, those vivid blue eyes turned down to look into her tea, using a spoon to stir the bag around in the cup slowly.
"I was too young for that line of work. Legally and emotionally. I don't do that anymore but... I ran into trouble. First it was just a couple of guys that really liked my show, they'd try to talk to me after work, but the bouncers set them straight and made sure I always got to my bike okay. After a while they gave up. But somehow one of them figured out where I lived. It-it never got so bad that I had to go to the police or anything. But that's why I moved here. It's a nicer area, I hoped maybe no one would look for me here."
Her cheeks were pink, from the warmth versus the cold of the outside and the steam on her cheeks. Luckily she could blame the steam as she sniffed once, looking up at Alex, expecting the look most people gave her. Disgust, that she would have been a stripper before she was even eighteen, or pity that she'd been supporting herself that long, or even fear that she'd had a stalker. She didn't want any of those emotions.

Alex was only smiling through the entire time that Dante spoke. There was a slight raising of one brow at the mention of the not dating dating men, but said brow was quickly put back in its place when she realized that Dante was telling a story about her being a stripper. She listened to the story intently and it was admiration that she felt. Alex couldn't begin to imagine the hardships that this woman must have gone through. She herself had also lost all of her family, but she was left with a substantial inheritance that she could support herself and the apartments quite easily, even if half the residents never paid a day's rent. Dante's courage impressed her as did her independence. These emotions were clearly displayed on Alex's face.
Alex simply nodded, "I hope this place serves as a safe haven for you. I know I'd be very willng to kick some male a** if anyone tried anything." she laughed quietly at herself. Then, after a pause, she tilted her head inquisitively. " What do you do now?" Alex shifted her position so that her left elbow rested on the table and her chin, in turn, rested upon that hand. Hazel eyes studied Dante's pleasant face.

"Now..? I teach ankle-biters to dance." Katie smiled though, thinking about all the future dancers that were under her care. They were so honest in their efforts. Or the lack of effort as the case might be.
Swirling the contents of her glass with the spoon, she took a sip of her tea, thinking for a moment. How could she explain that it wasn't the only thing she did. Dante was constantly looking for something else, for actual performances to be in, troupes that might take her. It had seemed there were so any options for her when she was just a dancer. Now, as soon as it came up she had once danced exotically...
"Someday I'll be in a troupe, and see the world. I havn't had a lot of opportunity to perform lately. Not for an audience at least."

Alex chuckled quietly at the mention of 'ankle-biters'. She did find it endearing though, that this woman teaches little children. She had always had an affinity to those who could handle themselves around toddlers. This could be because for most of Alex's life, she had acted like a toddler. A spoiled one at that. Of course, all of that changed and she was forced to take a crash-course of the real world.
The apartment owner smiled slightly, it was a sideways grin almost. She liked that Dante had ambitions and Alex found herself hoping that this woman would get her wish.
Alex nodded slowly. "That sounds like a plan. Good luck to you. Y'know, I'm sure the residents of this complex would love to watch you perform. I know I would..." She smiled brightly hoping to bring Dante's chin up and have her smile too.

It worked like a charm. Dante looked up with a shy sort of smile, putting her tea on the table in front of her. "Maybe we can figure something out. It all depends on the sort of performance you're looking for, if it's public or private." The shy smile was replaced by a playful grin, and Dante got to her feet.
"Now, before my hair dries, where can I find a shower?" She picked up a git of her pale blonde hair, looking at the half-dry ends of it.
