Possibly one of the best survival horror games of all time. The game excells in this genre of gaming. Zombies, random monsters, guns, tactical strategy and suspense. Every non 3D title has raised the bar in one way or another. For Re2 is was the introduction of the Titan. A large monster that would show up at random times in the game. You could choose to run or fight when the monster showed up. Unfortunately getting away from the creature was as easy as entering the next room. And killing the monster every time you saw him was more for. Experienced players that had already beaten the game and were revisiting it.
This monster was replaced by yet another hard to kill monster in Resident Evil 3. The Nemesis like the Titan would show up at certain points in the game to kill your character off. But unlike the Titan this one was made faster and more difficult to escape from. He would also occasionally show up armed with dangerous high powered weapons like the rocket launcher. Granted you could manually dodge the hits and there was even a dodge command in the game. These attacks would take a large chunk out of your hp. And when the creature was out of ammo. It would resort to using brute force to take you down. Although the creatures damage output would decrease without the rocket launcher. It would no longer be weighed down by that heavy weapon. If you get too far away from this creature it will begin to chase you. And it can follow you from room to room. There were special weapons you could only get by defeating this monster multiple times. But the Nemesis only dropped these items in the hardest mode of the game.
With great replayability these games had more going for them than just Graffics, gameplay and a solid storyline. The game was interesting enough that after completion you wanted to revisit the game again. And ever one of the Resident Evil games offered a rating system. For those perfectionists that wanted to do more than just finish the main storyline and leave it at that.
Then there was Resident Evil 4. What can be said about this game except completely sweat graphics. The game sharpened just about every aspect that made the previous games great. Monster Ai was sharpened, graffics were improved after the conversion from the Ps1 to Ps2. A sharp new aiming system was added to the game. Allowing damage to be inflicted to monsters more realistically. Even the sound of this game was improved a bit. And they added several never before seen monsters just for this game. The most frightening looking would have to be the Regenerator. This creature only shows up near the end of the game. But it's very hard to kill without the proper scope for your sniper rifle. The monster will not die until the leaches inside of if all die. And without the scope you can't see the parasites inside the monsters body.
So in conclusion if you have a Playstation or Playstation 2 and haven't picked up at least one of these titles. I highly recommend that you do so as the games are all greatest hits now. Picking up code veronica wouldn't be a bad idea. If you find Resident Evil interesting enough to buy several of the titles in the series. One last note, try to stay away from the 3-D Resident Evil titles. The games can be beaten on every mode inside of a week.

I personally thought the fixed camera in Re1 added something to the game. You would enter a screen and there would be a zombie right there. On occasion it made me jump. I don't think it would have been successful using that system in the later Re games though. By later Resident Evil games I mean 4 and up.

LanceCalvis By annoyed do you mean eaten. wink lol! I find that happening to me once in awhile with the fixed camera view too. A great series though. I'm a fan of Whesker and his cool and evil personality. He's an even cooler and a bigger a** in the third movie too.

What do you mean by the third movie? Only places I've seen Wesker in are Resident Evil 1, Code Veronica and Resident Evil 4.
