Temperature: 60 Degrees Fahrenheit

The day is cloudy, gray clouds hovering in the sky, yet the light of the sun is still able to give a good amount of light to the surrounding land. As one travels through the forest, they see that it's not any different from any other forest. Many trees, the sounds of animals coming from distances both near and far, the usual breeze of the incoming spring air passing across the body.

This all sustains until one reaches a part of the forest where fog lingers. Just standing near the barrier of the fog brings about a cold chilling feeling of fear, as if just seeing it brought red alarms up in a person's mind. And then stepping through into the fog, that is when they will hear the gentle sounds of the forest die. A creepy feeling will come into play, where the sounds of crows enter into the melody, along with some other indescribable faint howl hitting into the wind. The color of the grass and vegetation will look paler in color, the life of it somehow getting drained from it. This was not a normal forest any longer. This felt more like a graveyard.

Czzzt! Czzzt!

The static of a radio occurs in the ebony headset of the kneeling man dressed in camo. A submachine gun held in his right hand, his left keeps to the headset, tapping it to try to clear up the signal enough for him to get it going.

"This is Bravo 2, contacting headquarters."

"Czzzt, we read you, Bravo 2."

"We've just Czzzt...we've just arrived here at the one thousand yard mark. Czzzt...requesting to move in."

"Order... Czzzt...."

"Repeat that."

"Order...Czzzzzzztttt...."

"Damn, I lost contact." Moving the mic up, he looks forward into the glooming forest as he rises to his feet, eyes staring through a glass pane visor as his mouth releases breath after breath. Some low growling sound echoes from the depths of the forest, having the heart of this man in swat-like equipment breathe heavier, wondering what the hell was out there. Turning around, he walks over to three others in the same set.

"Someone give me a smoke."

One of them reaches into their pouches, removing a cigar, which the man takes and bites the head off with his strong teeth.

"Light?"

A lighter follows, flowing against the bit end, the smoker giving a few inhales before he finally got a light going, the sweet intake of the nicotine flowing into his lungs, holding his head back as he inhales it.

"Aaaah....that's damn good."

It had been too long since he went on a mission like this, and this time they were fighting demons from hell. Well, he had encountered many enemies like them before. He figured this will be no different than blowing away a few other winged beasts.

Bloody warm, isn't it?

Colin's unique accent spewed forth these words, his lax dress setting him off greatly from the soldiers he'd been stationed with. Sleeveless white tee, his black belted zip-off, and his modified Converse. Knife on his right hip, kamagong sticks on his left, Colin looked around at the LAW officers.

Each of them had a gun. He didn't. What were they going up against that they needed guns?

Almost made him wish he'd brought his.

Shrugging, Colin pulled out his own cigarette and lit it, sucking in the toxins.

Dark. Cold. Damp. Three things that cued Marrienne to the fact that she would not enjoy this damn mission.

She was glowering the moment she set foot in the blasted thing, an instant shiver coming over her. Okay, it wasn't that cold, but the relative wetness of her surroundings wasn't exactly helping the situation. And why the hell had she decided to walk?!

...Oh, that's right. The goods. Can't have them getting in the way...

Agent Marrienne L'dreir had just finished off her last job, a job that stationed her in Konoha and whose acquirements couldn't be put in any sort of compromising position, lest she wish to not get paid. Which brings her back to this rather annoying situation. Why was she doing this? Money. Quite honestly, she was in a severe lack of funding, and she needed the money. Badly. Two nights' prior, she'd had one of the best meals she'd ever eaten, more because she hadn't eaten in weeks than because the food was any sort of decent.

She sighed, grudgingly continuing through this Forest of Damp and Fugly. Oh well...at least the job sounds mildly interesting... Straighting her posture, she slipped latex-bound fingertips into one of her vest pockets, extracting a small slip of paper. Casting her piercing yellow gaze down upon the small scroll, she checked the slip, ensuring she really was supposed to be here.

[-A.L.I.C.E-]
LAW
Report to the given co-ordinates, near Konohagakure. Other recruits will be gathering there. Further orders to be given on location.

She replaced the slip with a sigh, trudging onward. Yup. Right place alright. Oh well...

After a while, the slender feline finally crossed into thick fog, where things only worsened. Now not only was it cold, dark, and damp, but also she couldn't see for s**t, and she swore things were wailing. It wasn't that she heard anything, per se, just...she couldn't shake the feeling that the world around her was consumed with pain, anguish, suffering...And that never bode well.

Golden-yellow orbs widened a bit in this new setting, partly in need of more light for visibility, partly to keep herself alert. Her ears stood upright atop her head, wide to allow maximum sound reception, and her posture took every step with increased hesitation. As she moved, she figured it'd be a good idea to check her supplies...

First, the gun. She drew her Beretta PX4 Storm and checked the clip--a full 12 shots. Nodding, she slipped it back into its holster with her left hand, right hand moving to a large pouch on the lower-right side of her vest. Fingers slipping inside, she confirmed the presence of her two extra clips, both full. A now-free left hand moved to a similar pocket on the lower-left side to check for five sensor explosives, each 5cm in diameter. Next came the series of smaller pouches just above these larger ones: three on each side for a total of six small pockets. They were each just large enough for her to slip two fingers inside. Fingering around, she checked the number of small capsules in each: five, save for the two pouches lining her vest's zipper, which held ten each. Another confirming nod, and finally she reached with her right hand into an inside pocket on her vest's left panel. There, as expected, laid her PDA. Left hand checking the inside pocket on her right, she felt for and confirmed five vials, each filled with that magical elixir she loved oh so much, Mysthe. The constant annoyance of pressure against her left lung was enough to confirm her emergency supplies were still there. Sure, enough years had gotten her used to the feeling, but it was still annoying.

At last she came upon what seemed to be a small gathering of militants, and one other--presumably her team for this job. A sigh of relief escaped her, which was quickly replace by a mild snarl in light of the plethora of tiny blades of grass sticking intently to her army boots. Oh, the humanity...

Lifting a very clearly pissed gaze to her four temporary partners, she all but glowered with every ounce of a cat's infamous irritability, "...so, why the hell am I here again?"

Colin turned to face the new-comer, her feline appearance causing him to sub-consciously reach up to his eyes. Playing it off as an itch, Colin balled his hand into a fist and rubbed his eye, taking the woman's attire and armaments. He saw a gun. Great,

Odd man out.

With a sigh, the British-Irish hitman lowered his hand from his face. Taking another drag from his death stick, Colin would let the carcinogens curl out of his nose and blend with the damp air.

My guess is money.

Isn't that why everyone was here? Well, except the soldiers. they got paid to do any work. This was more of an order for them.

So, the one person with no guns. He greatly enjoyed being in that position about as much as the cat-girl enjoyed the wet air.

Moving the cig from one corner of his mouth to the other, he checked his weapons once more.

Knife. Check. Sticks. Check. Done.

Now what?

The three men look to the two, the one with the cigar, Bravo 2, walking over to the man and woman with them. He looks them both up and down before speaking.

"Pft, mercenaries. Worse part about you types is that you only care for the money. None of you give a damn about the importance of this mission. Do you have any idea what we're up against? We're fighting a demons here, demons wishing to take over the world. If we don't stop them here and now, they'll wipe out this world in no time. So talk about all your money all you want. You can't take your money with you when you die."

He removes his cigar from his mouth, his brown eyes looking at them as he pulls up his helmet to get a good look at them both. Settling it back down, he turns his back to them.

"When are the others on this mission gonna get here?"

"Demons trying to take over the world? Maybe I should be fighting for the other side," a voice would say. It came from a red headed woman-- a demoness, with fiery eyes, and a black, zipped up catsuit. She had been standing, silent, with arms crossed against a tree, until she had piped in her two cents.

She would push herself from the tree, her spiked heels avoiding strewn out twigs, as she would approach the group. Around her waist, a thin, adamant chain was coiled, and the length hanging from her waist would swing with every sway of the hips as she walked, a saucy smile blooming on her lips.

"But I guess I won't have a world to steal if they do it first. Best eliminate the competition."

Callista was their ally in this battle. She had no interest in money, she was wealthy enough already. No, her interest was the action.

"Name's Callista," she would introduce, not truly caring if anyone took interest or not. This was expressed in her lax stance, and blank expression.

Marrienne smirked at the other mercenary, chuckling softly to show her full approval of his statement. "I foresee us getting along very, very nicely." Apparently, his motives weren't all that different from her own.

She next turned her moon-yellow gaze upon the militant, a purple eyebrow lifting as he looked her over. She shifted her weight onto her left leg, left arm placing its hand upon her hip, right arm hanging at her side. "Alright, so we gotta go in and beat up a bunch of baddies. We win, we get paid. We loose, we high-tail it the hell off this planet."

Shifting her weight back off her leg, she crossed her arms beneath her breasts, an action that always only increased her already sizable cleavage, and glanced over to their newest addition to the gathering. Nodding, she replied plain and simply with her own name. "Marrienne L'dreir."

A demoness, huh? THAT should come in handy...Likely, she'll be able to switch between melee and ranged attack, unlike Mr. Chopsticks over there and myself...

With this in mind, she turned her gaze back to the militants, looking them over. Guns, as usual, and she could expect them to be fairly decent in the physical arena. But how many tricks did they have up their sleeves? They were likely to be more their tactical basis. Meeting the one who'd spoken up in the eye, she called to him, "So, how many of us are there supposed to be? I assume one of you will lead the pack?"

Colin sneered down at the man in the flak jacket, his cigarette threatening to fall out of his mouth. What did this hoity-toity boy-o have against mercs? We all have to get paid somehow. Some are just too good to be strapped down to one side. Shrugging, Colin tilted his head at the sound of a new voice.

Another female. Things were beginning to get interesting.

Turning his head, Colin took in the totty, face, hips, and all. She was quite the looker, but he had his own gal back home.

But back to business. Demons, huh? He hadn't messed with them before, but there was always a first time for everything. Folding his arms across his chest, his eyes would dilate just a tad, the pupils narrowing into an oval-esque shape.

Parents called me Colin.

Figured it'd be only right to give up his name since the two had given up theirs. Looking back at the presumptuous soldier who thought only s**t of their help, Colin frowned. Why'd he get stuck with the rag-tag Hawaii Five-O? They were going to be good for two things. Back-up, and guns when they died. He hoped it wouldn't come to that, but run your mouth off and you'd get on his bad side.

Bravo 1, the one who hadn't done anything yet other than pace the ground with his gun at his shoulder, tapping it there as he was awaiting for them to get going. He stops, glancing as the new woman arrives, then returns to pacing.

"Stop being so damn anxious,"
Bravo 2 says to Bravo 1. "Well, for now, it's just the six of us. Headquarters says that if anyone else is coming, they'll be accompanied by another of our guys. Alright, people, listen up."

He turns to face them, still puffing on the cigar that was now at the right corner of his mouth, his right hand grabbing a silencer and screwing it onto the nozzle of his submachine gun.

"One thousand yards east of here is our destination. We find the base, infiltrate, then we're blowing it sky high. Bravo 1 over there has the explosives in his backpack. Good ole C4. We set up the explosives inside, and we then have only twenty minutes to high tail it out of the one hundred yard radius this thing is going to have. After that, we rendezvous back here, where we'll be picked up. We're bound to encounter demons along the way, so get ready for combat. Is that clear to you all?"

<< since no one else is posting... >>

Marrienne listened carefully to their objectives, nodding periodically throughout his little monologue. Alright, sounds simple enough... As he finished explaining, her golden-yellow eyes shifted between the gathered members, examining each and assessing their potential use. When he at last stopped talking, she returned her gaze to him and opened her purple lips for her return. "Makes sense." Turning her attentions to Collin, she replied, "Collin. I'm assuming your specialty is melee attack, seeing as you to appear to have much ranged potential. You should thus lead the pack while our militants here provide ranged cover." She nodded her head to the three heavily-geared men as she said this, then turned to Callista, taking particular note of the fact that she was a demoness. "I can't say I'm able to make a fair assessment of your capabilities, Callista, but I'd assume you pack a significantly more powerful punch than either of us, and my guess would be you'd have a lot of ease switching between ranged and melee attack. You, thus, should head alongside Collin and help him with any fliers we might encounter."

Next, she addressed the general group as she talked about herself. "My specialties are closer to stealth, speed, things like that. If you guys clear the way, I can try and get to the base quickly and start breaking in while the rest of you deal with the baddies. About that, though..." She focused on the militant who'd spoken, now ready for her questioning. "Why not just line the C4 around the perimeter? How many explosives do we have?" Glancing down towards her feet, she began to walk about, dragging her foot to draw a cruddy diagram of a circular fortress, then returned to her original position, pointing with her tail as she explained. "We can split into two groups and scan the perimeter, each group placing explosives such that they are somewhat equally spaced around the base. We'll have twenty minutes starting from the first plant to reach the opposite end plus an additional hundred yards, but it should be a significantly easier feat than escaping the building. If we split into two groups and start from opposite directions, we could feasibly place just one explosive opposite each other beside the base and run back, giving us twenty minutes to cover 100 yards of forest, an even easier task than the prior two escapes."

Looking up again, she addressed the group in general again, concluding, "Either way, if there's any building left, we can take a second swipe after the first round of explosions, overhead if we must. We have the ability to make an aerial assault."

That last bit wasn't a question, it was a statement of fact. She left it unsaid how they were able to, not wanting to bring up Sylvia unless necessary. Her guess was the militants probably had planes or something ready, at very least for their pick-up.

"What do you guys think about that?"

Demon this and demon that. All talk. Colin would believe that they were dangerous when they got to them. The feline address his, and so his attention was called away from the somewhat unprofessional attitudes of the soldiers.

Listening to her battle plan, Colin thought about it. Sure, he was lithe and nimble despite his size and, sure, he could walk quieter through underbrush than most could nude on concrete, but the idea of him getting thrust onto the front line wasn't that appealing. He'd do it, though. Hell, who knew. Maybe he'd get to dirty his knife a bit before they got to their target.

As she finished up her stratagem, Colin frowned. His vote on the C4 was a nay. They didn't know yet how many civs there were, nor how strong their targets were. What use would C4s be if everyone got slaughtered while placing them?

His vote was liable to sway, though. Like before, it all depends on what the situation was when they got there.
