Okies...So as some of you may know I was planning on cosplaying as Belzeber for Anime Expo '08. I seem to have a problem... I CAN'T FIND THE DAMN BROACH THING! D: Does anyone know of any store where I can find something like it cheap? (like under $20.)

Can you find a picture? I might be able to make it for you. (I'd check the manga, but it's already boxed up for my move and I don't remember which box it's in. D: )

Just in case the PM system decided to be retarded (it's done this before), I decided I should probably post the tutorial I just typed up here as well. I really don't want to have to type the whole damn thing all over again. D:
Materials: In the mosaic section of your local craft store, you should find some small, clear plastic boxes full of large glass hemispheres. Make sure you get one with dark blue ones in it; that's going to be the stone (what you do with the rest of them is entirely up to your imagination). For the gold around it, go to the polymer clay section and there's two different options depending on what your store has in stock. If you can find gold PearlEX powder, get that and some black Premo Sculpey clay (it's one of the stronger kinds, so make sure it's Premo Sculpey, not Sculpey III). If they don't have the powder, just get gold Premo Sculpey. The powder makes a more metallic and realistic gold, so that should be your first choice. Also be sure to swing by the paint section and get some acrylic varnish (glaze) if you don't have some already. You'll also need one of those brooch pins, a disposable baking dish (like one of those pie tins that you find at the grocery store), and just a little super glue, but those'll be easy to find.
And as for the construction: (You won't need many tools for this project, but if you use anything from the kitchen, don't use it with food again.) Pull enough clay off the block to get the size you want. Kneed it until it pulls like taffy. Then, roll it into a slightly elongated ball and flatten it slightly between the work surface and the palm of your hand. Choose a dark blue hemisphere from the box (be sure to thoroughly inspect it for imperfections and clean it first; they're a bit dusty) and press it into the center of the clay piece. If you're satisfied with how it looks, pull the glass back out, add just a light coating of super glue to the back, and place it back into the clay. At this point, if you were able to get the powder and black clay, you have another two options (if you got the gold clay though, just skip to the next paragraph). If you want the brooch to look sparkley-new, use a paint brush to cover the entire surface with the powder. If you want a slightly worn, 'antiqued' look, just dip your finger lightly into the powder and brush it over the surface of the clay; it'll leave just a slight black outline around the 'stone'. Now check how thick the clay is at its thickest point and bake for 15 minutes per 1/4 inch of thickness at 275 degrees in your disposable baking dish. Bake in your oven; it won't hurt anything (mine would have fried long ago if it did). Once the piece is finished baking, let it cool completely. Now get your brooch pin and just a little bit of clay. Secure the pin to the back of the brooch with a little super glue, let it dry, then place a flattened piece of clay over the back of the pin and smooth it onto the the back of the brooch with your fingers until it almost looks like just one piece of clay. Bake again for 15 minutes. Let the brooch cool again, then give it a coat of varnish. Or, if you used the gold clay and don't think it's quite smooth enough, sand it (be careful not to sand the glass though) and buff afterward with denim. Don't sand it if you used the powder, and if you do sand it, do so with wet/dry sandpaper over a sink full of water with just a drop of dish soap, dipping the piece every so often, then glaze afterward.
And finished! =D Sorry it was so long, but I wanted to make sure I got every detail in. If you need any more help with it, let me know. I could even make one and post pictures of each step if you have a hard time, but I'm sure you can pull it off with this. wink
