There is talk that rock and heavy metal has raised the suicide count and consumption of anti-depressants...

Politicians say that it is a major risk for kids of today. But can music have this kind of effect on people...

Yes or no?

music of any sort is a huge impact on a persons life the lyrics of one may make another act diffrently or follow along. Music is away of expressing your self.. If you dont thing rap is influenceing the way people dress then what is it doing?

Yes, but they are targetting heavy metal and rock. Why? Why not rap? Or country?

Yeah, rap is a lot more threatening than heavy metal or rock. Rock has been around for many years, and suicide levels went up when rap came along, and the suicides gave heavy metal and rock artists to write about.

It's only threatening if you let it get to you. See, people being stupid enough to be influenced by songs are what make me depressed. Songs don't affect one's life; Actions and such do. You're only in danger if you're stupid enough.

True Chaos, but there are idiots out there that let songs influence them.

Agreed. And I think a lot of the whole politicians blaming music is that they're using it as a scapegoat instead of getting down to the real problem of why these kids are getting depressed and suicidal, which probably has a lot to do with all those drugs parents and doctors shove down their children's throats hoping that it's a 'cure-all'.
