I was just flipping through teh channels and I stopped on CNN.
They were interviewing a DJ in Ansterdam at a club where he would spin and everyone would be wearing wireless headphones.
No outside music. Just a signal to teh headphones.
I don't think I would like that. It seems like it would take alot of the interactions away. Who wants to go up to someone and yank their headphones off?
What do you think? Silent clubbing, yay or nay?

Silent clubbing would be like going into a bar where everyone orders and converses in sign-language. There would be no interaction between people. Every person would be in their own little world completely oblivious to everyone else. It would be like a bad Science Fiction movie, with horrible actors, and no plot.

Silent Clubing in a club seems real lame, but in a public place where the cops would get on you, its a good idea. I always thought it would be neat to grab a bunch of peeps and head to time square or something and have a silent club going. 'Twould be neat.

Like that old Sony MP3 commercial. ^__^ Something like that would be cool. But if I'm going to a venue I want the music pumping and the people talking.

yeah i read about this on the WEMF forums. i think it would be an interesting idea but i wouldnt want to do it over a traditional party, i think it would be weird if you were able to select different channels depending on what room you want to listen to fourfour/breakbeat/hardcore and everyone was dancing in the same room.
but yeah, its intresting, but im not doing it.

who the hell came up with that brilliant idea?
so instead of shouting at each other over loud speakers, your shouting at each other over headphones?
what problems have they solved exactly? noise complaint issues?
bah.
i can wear headphones and shout at people at home, i think i'll pass

If I can't feel the bass in my chest and everyone's tuned into their own little world...what would be the point? The idea is interesting, I guess, but it would lessen the experience for me personally.

I have to agree... Would really take away from the whole experience. I love to listen to my music loud and I love to feel the bass in my tummy too, like Kenzi mentioned. If I'm paying money to see a preformance I don't want to have to hear it through headphones, I can do that at home. XP

Hmm...that is a great point seeing as how I have not been to a live performance and end up listening to everything in my beloved headphones anyways.

That and they'd have to be good headphones in the respect that they don't fall off your head when you start going crazy on the dance floor. It would just suck if every couple of seconds they slipped out of your ears or off your head.

haha, ye man, those airplane headphones are wack. i always take my DJ headphones (not a DJ yet tho blaugh ) they're great. this idea is...weird...how silly would it look if someone walked in from the outside to see like, 100 people in a club spazzin around in complete silence...just...not the club experience. but this got me thinkin. has anyone been to clubs where they turn the music up so loud, that its not like "ooh yeah, loud man" but its more like "...the speakers are crying, you can hear the distortion" i mean, loud is good, but i've found out that there's such a thing as too loud. its when the speakers catch fire 3nodding
