Council:
Alphas: Leaders of the pack, these wolves have the final say in all pack activities. The alphas are in charge of keeping the hierarchy in order and keeping each wolf happy. They aslo host meetings and give out promotions. Any requests for rank, mating or pup baring should go through the alphas. They are usually the strongest and always the most dominant.
Betas: Second in command, the betas are in charge of everything when the alphas are either away or unavailble. They take reports and repeat them to the alphas. Betas settle disputes among members and try and settle them before they escalate to the point were an alpha must step in.
Gammas: Betas-in-training, those who rank as gamma's shadow betas and learn from them. They are aloud to sit in on council meetings and are the third in command. Should the betas have to accompany or tend to an alpha(s) these wolves are in charge
Ranked Subordinates:
Guardians: Pack guardians are much like town sheriffs. They patrol the pack and make sure that all the wolves are behaving as they should. These wolves are usually at the sidelines of pack meetings, ready to settle any problems that may occure. Guardian is also a council rank.
Centurions: Top of the Emerald Guard are the Centurions. Seen mostly as commanders, these wolves are the strongest and most battle-wise wolves. Only when a real threat is posed do these wolves get deploid, though they often accompany any council members on trips outside the territory as protection.
Battalions Also members of the Emerald Guard, battalions are more like soldiers. Whenever a threat is found, it is battalions that are first sent out to take care of it, though other wolves may join in if needed. They also accompany council members out of the territory, usually in the shadow of Centurions.
Sentinels: Pack police, sentinels are rule inforcers and peer mediators. They are in charge of settling any disputes between other members before a council member has to step in. Though they are not appart of the council, Sentinels often are promoted to guardians if the postion opens.
Elders: Just because one is old, does not mean he/she is useless. Elders are very wise and alphas often seek their advice. These wolves usually have the best stories and the most knowledge.
CareTakers: These wolves act as nurses to those who are injured or ill. They make sure patients are kept fed and hydrated and are educated about basic herbs that might act as natural antioxidents or antibiotics. These wolves sometimes double as pupsitters.
Pup-sitters: Babysitters, wolves in this rank often stay at the den with pups while the mother and father are out, often hunting. Pupsitters are naturally gentle and friendly and watch over pups until they are old enough to be alone. The pupsitters develop strong bonds with their charges, and it is not uncommon for them to treat them as their own.
Mentors: Mentors school yearlings in the art of Hunting, the ways of our pack and our history. Mentors act as pack scholars and usually have many exciting stories to tell yearling wolves. These teachers can often times double as pupsitters should the rank be empty, or if the pupsitter is incapable of fullfilling the duty.
Hunter/Scouts: Self explainitory, these wolves hold the responcibility of keeping the cache full and the territory secure. Often the wolves who hold this rank will be gone for days at a time, patroling the territory borders and reporting back to the pack of their findings, Were the best hunting is, and areas to avoid.
Packmates: Wolves in the pack that hold no particular rank. Usually they are waiting until the alphas see fit, or until the next meeting, to be given a rank.
Pups: Any wolf under the age of one year is concidered a pup. These rambunctious little balls of fluff have the simplist of obligations; to grow and to learn, so one day they may become respectful, responsible pack members.
Omegas: The lowest ranking wolves in the pack. They're even lower than the packmates. Usually they are in this position because they did something to get demoted through the ranks, or because they left the pack and then wished to come back, so now they are on a trial period to see if they will actually stay.
