As somewhat of an avid theatre fan, I was wondering if anybody else liked it and what their fav. plays were.

To get things rolling, mine are;

The Duchess of Malfi - John Webster
Much Ado About Nothing - William Shakespeare
Harvey - Mary Chase
See How They Run - Philip King
Anything by the venerable Mr Alan Bennett.

I absolutely ADORE Much Ado About Nothing! I especially loved the recent modernisation of it, with Beatrice and Benedick as newsroom co-anchors.
Hamlet is amazing, too. <3.

I haven't seen the play of it, but the movie of The History Boys was very good.

And I'm counting Dead Caesar as a play. It's by this Australian comedian, Chris Taylor (known from The Chaser), and is a musical adaptation of Julius Caesar. Hilarious.

...aside from that, I don't watch many plays.

The movie is done with the cast from the first play version. I'll have to hunt out Black Caesar.

OSCAR WILDE. An Ideal Husband is my hands down favorite play (Importance of Being Earnest is awesome too).

I love Shakespeare also, A Midsummer Night's Dream is my fave of his plays (Hermia kicks butt and represents for us short girls everywhere!).

For some bizarre reason, I prefer Macbeth to any of his other tragedies, and maybe my second favorite of his works. I just finished reading Taming of the Shrew yesterday.

I've also got a soft spot for Ibsen's 'A dollhouse'

...goodness, cannot believe it took this many post to get to Mr. Oscar Wild. My favorite of his plays being "Lady Windermere's Fan" and of course "The Importance of Being Earnest" (haha! I love the pun in the title!!)
And of course, let us not forget the classic Greek playwrights!! Such as Sophocles and Euripides...and Shakespeare of course!

I also love Oscar Wilde, though the only Shakespeare play I like at the moment is The Taming of the Shrew...however, that was the only one of his plays I have had a chance to read without having to analyse (sorry if I spelled that wrong...), and I've been recently occupied with other books.

I have to admit I have a new favorite Shakespeare play. I got the Shakespeare Retold collection months ago, and after seeing the movie, had to read Much Ado About Nothing. I absoloutely love it!
