Rocky Lincourt Is this the same band that wrote the hit song "Smoke On The Water" ? Yes. As well as songs as Child In Time, Burn, Woman From Tokyo, Highway Star and many others. They're quite nice you know. :<

Yay, i got my own forum!! That makes me feel special (actually i am special in the head sweatdrop )
And ya, i am surprised at the amount of ppl who know smoke on the water, but don't know of deep purple. Personally i like Child In Time better than Smoke on the Water, but i still love all deep purple music, i can't pick a favorite, i think i already said that, now i am ranting. i said i was special didn't i? mrgreen
I'M WELCOME!! YAY!
Okay, I won't pretend I'm a deep purple expert, just a crazily devoted fan, so i will try my best to answer questions and stuff, but i might not be able to...okay i'll just shut up now sweatdrop

Deep Purple, great band. Ritchie Blackmore is one of my influences on guitar, along with Yngwie. Currently my favorite Purple song is "Burn." That opening riff is more infamous than "Smoke On The Water" for me. ^_^
By chance, has anyone here listened to Rainbow, Ritchie Blackmore's group after Purple? Very awesome group, I actually prefer Rainbow to Purple. Check out Rainbow's "Since You've Been Gone," "I Surrender," "Death Alley Driver," "The Man On The Silver Mountain," and "Sensitive To Light." Very badass tunes. 3nodding

Krad99 Hey, what was everybodies favorite album by Deep Purple anyways? And can you recommend a Rainbow album??? I don't know them Dx ~ Krad Ruhk III ~ My favorite Deep Purple album right now is currently "Perfect Strangers," but "Machine Head" comes in as a close second. As for Rainbow, you can start at two ends; their more dark, medieval sounding material with Ronnie James Dio on vocals, or their more commercial sounding material with Graham Bonnet and Joe Lynn Turner singing. I love both phases of Rainbow, but the fans seem pretty divided, leaning towards one side much more than the other. But as for my album suggestions, "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow" and "Rising" are a great start for the dungeons and dragons era, and "Bent Out Of Shape" and "Difficult To Cure" are prime CDs from the more mainstream period of the band. 3nodding
