I believe that this is a question better left to higher powers...namely Shonen Jump publications and Nickelodeon.

Is that even a question? What the heck is with all of the avatar vs. naruto crap out there?! I am sick and tired about hearing about freakin naruto! scream People say that it was awsome before it came to america and now it sucks. I think that it has sucked the entire time some jerk decided to pull the story out of his @$$!
I'm sorry about the rant, but I am SICK of people talking about which show would win, this one or this one, niether have anything to do with each other! And I hate Naruto. Always have, always will.

Naruto was good up to a point. It's not consistently good. Actually... it was only good up to the the last episode of the Hidden Mist village because of Haku's story. Then it became kinda boring until they showed Itachi and the other akatsukis.
ATLA on the other hand is consistently interesting and has its story mostly always developping. Even the ones that don't seem to make progress in the storyline have significant value in the character's growth! 3nodding
So I'd have to say ATLA has the upper hand... but personally... to ask such a question in an ATLA guild? That seems kinda biased. No offense intended.

Well for now I'd have to say Naruto I love Avatar and I don't even watch Naruto but remember the show had like nine seasons and if you ever go to their forums they have a whole bunch more users.
Avatar probably a much better show since I don't think Mike & Brian will go for nine seasons and overstay their welcome but until the show gets more settled I'll still have to say Naruto.

although the avatar has all four elements on his side naruto can do many more things such as clone, summon animals and hundreds of different jutsu's. i think the fight would be close but the avatar would win just because its awesomer

Uuuugh I hate Naruto, its too mainstream. Theres nothing wrong with the series, but the fact that every site I go to "NARUTO NARUTO NARUTO" I makes me grind my teeth
Avatar's storyline is better in my opinion.

I like Avatar better for the sheer reason that it moves faster. I mean, the long Naruto storyline I could deal with if it didn't take three freaking episodes to get through a minor fight. -_-
