The sun is beginning to set again. Quite a bit of time had passed in Crystal Cave, although it could not be seen deep inside the cavern. The people of Sarina hurry to get everything together before going to bed. Unlike most nightfalls, the doors of the mansion have been left open to accept the party that had gone out to complete a very important mission.

"Nightfall.... Man, I hate nightfall." Edwin tightened his grip on the hilt of his sword, hard enough that the leather wrapping creaked. 'Do they just leave the doors open like that? Sure way to create a feast for the vamps."

"They need not worry about that," Sarah said. "Master must have arrived, and even if he wasn't there they wouldn't dare make him mad."
When they entered the mansion, a young man was walking down the stairs. He had black pants with a white t-shirt and a half black, half white coat that had a tail that extended to the floor. A pendant of the yin yang symbol was joining the coat together on his chest. He looked up when he heard them coming in. "Ah, Sarah," the man said. "It appears you've found someone to clear out Crystal Cave. How'd it go?"
"It went very well, Master Darien," Sarah said, bowing deeply. "The cave should now be secure."
"I suggest you stay here the night," Darien said to the group behind Sarah. "You'll be able to wash up and sleep in a comfortable bed. It is the least I can do for you after clearing out that cave for me."

Edwin bowed. "You're very kind sir, it was our pleasure to clear out that cave." Edwin looked around the mansion. "Rather fancy here, tell me, why do the local vampires fear you/"

"Why wouldn't they fear us?" Darien asked, a little confused. "All towns created after the Revolution are under the protection of the Universal Guardian until we become more stabilized."

Edwin shook his head. "I know very little about the protected cities, I made my living outside the city, where the outcasts, hyrbids, halfings and some humans lived. Heck, I grew up in an all human community far beyond any city. The only thing the vampires feared was some salvaged human technology."

"That's understandable," Darien said. "We're still trying to get set up. I think it's best that you got some rest tonight. I have another mission for you if you're interested." He walked over to the doors and pulled them shut, then went back upstairs with Sarah. "Oh," he said, coming back down. "The bathroom is over there," he pointed to the door on the right, "the dining room is to your left. If you're hungry, there should still be some food. You can just pick any room on the second floor to sleep in. They should all be empty, except for the last one on the left. G'night!"

Edwin noded. "Thank you for your kindness." He wandered towards the last door on the left then picked the room next to it, curiosity always got the better of him."Wonder what kind of grub they have, wonder if theresany steak.." He mumbled to himself."

The table was filled with steak, chicken, biscuits, bread, gravy, and ketchup. The table was set magnificently, good enough for a king.

Edwin's mouth started to water. "if only people from back home could see this.." he muttered to himself. He snatched a plate from its rack, it was made from what looked like fine bone china gilded with intertwining lines of gold and silver. "Pretty fancy dinerware to."

Xanas tipped his head to the man as a greeting, but remained silent. He didn't like how the man was acting. "He underestimates how desperate some vampires can be for a good meal. I'm sure he can handle them, but what about the others? Fighting a desperate vampire is not something I want to do." He thought to himself and he took his spear off his back so he could sit down. He had it leaning on the side of his chair, just in case. Xanas took a smaller steak and two biscutes, and started to eat them gracefully. "No vegtables? Barbarian nobles" He thought, but added "Very fine silver wear". After gracefully eating his meal he looked to the host and finally spoke. "Thank you for the meal, but I am looking for a reward. If you don't mind can we settle this mission before we speak of another?"

[Actually, Darien went upstairs, but I can bring him back down for conversation.]Darien came back down and went into the dining room looking for something. "Ah, there it is!" he said, rushing to the other side of the table and picking up a book. "I almost thought I lost this." Saverio C. "Thank you for the meal, but I am looking for a reward. If you don't mind can we settle this mission before we speak of another." "Patience," Darien said. "I've heard that Edwin bought a rather expensive magigun, so I'll pay the rest of it for him. Of course, then I'll have to give everyone 600 gold to make it fair. I'll get it together in the morning and you will be paid by the time you wake up."

Edwin gave a slight chuckle. "I gave him a bunch of foreign coins to, all in silver and gold. Should've lowered the debt I owed. But then again, this magi-gun was unique, and I like things that are unique."

"Either way, 600 gold is what everyone will receive. I'll give you a little extra for those foreign coins, but I'll have to venture to the magigun shop in the morning."

((It's a minor detail, no. I wasn't paying attention so it's whatever you want.))
Xanas stood up from the table and walked over to a window. He didn't feel safe here. He looked outside for any signs of attack, or anything. He didn't want to get surprised. After looking around outside he grimaced as he didn't see anything. Finally he sighed and pulled out his summoners book. He wanted to at least look like he was doing something. He studied the blank pages and wondered what type of creatures he would be forced to draw in his book, and more importantly how he would make them subservant.
