The two slender leafeon ears twitched, listening to small sounds from nearby: a bird chirping, a growlithe stepping on a dead leaf, the gentle paws pressing over the dry snow...
Her crimson red eyes scanned the forest. Holly settled down next to a tree in a spot shrouded from snow. The small teddiursa, Candy, had just finished gorging itself on berries. It wobbled over to Holly and settled down next to her, laying his small head on her tense body. It wasn't too long before she was long asleep.
But the leafeon was there, laying awake for what seemed like hours, though it was only minutes. Her white paws shuffled over foreign objects under the dark night, frightening the leafeon. There was a question harming her sleep...
Who did she like?
This question started to trouble the poor leafeon when it came up in a conversation between she and her owner, DJ. She enjoyed talking to her two friends, (excluding Candy) Dakota and Dinny. It was a difficult decision she doubted she'd be able to overcome in a moment of seconds. She closed her crimson red eyes. She never thought about it hard, before. Afterall, before she just considered them friends but... What did they think of her? More than that? She bit her lip.

 Dinny trundled out of his and Echona's house. Echona still lay on herbed at one side of the house. Dinny closed the door to their little hut and hobbled towards the forest, intent on his daily morning job, berry picking. Dinny was making good progress, the sack he brought with him half full when he noticed a bright green and red near a tree through the berry bushes. He pushed through them to see Holly.
"Burr hurr, miz Hoilly! Guud mornin to ee!" He whipered smiling.

Holly twitched her ears. It was an accent and voice that she reconized... Of course she did, because she never heard anything like it before. Her sweet, usual smile curled over her lips.
"Oh! Hi there Dinny!" she reponded, much more louder then he. She looked at Candy and shoved her nose into his back, waking him up, startled.
"HOOOLLLLY!" he cried out, clinging to one of her legs. "You know I don't like thaaaat!" he whispered, shoving his face into the fur to conceal his tears. It was only a few moments later he paused. "Whyja do that?" he whispered softly, tilting his head to see Dinny. "Eep!" he cried out for a moment, unaware that there a figure. But... It was Dinny's figure. "Oh... hi Dinny," he whispered.
Holly giggled, patting his head with a front paw. "That was polite, Candy," she joked.
Candy stared at her, his cheeks giving off an unusual shade of red that didn't belong to him. "S-s-s-stop e-e-e-embarrasing me, Holly..."

Dinny chuckled as he pushed out of the bushes, and dropped his berry bag beside them.
"Hurr, Oi was just acummin out hurr to gather ee berries for moi brekkist. Echerna's too. Hullo thur Carndy!" He said smiling. His rustic speak was odd, but it was homly and welcoming.

Candy stared at him with wide eyes that held a sort of amusemnt in them. "W-Who's Echerna?" he asked, curled a paw in his mouth. He stared aat the berry bad hungrily. "Holllyyyyy~ I want breakfast... Can Dinny share breakfast with us? Please? PLease?" He made a 'growlithe dog face.'
Holly scowled. "No... no... He gathered them just for himself. That'd be rude!" She nodded. The accent relaxed her... She closed her eyes for a moment to take a deep breath of the fresh air. "So how have you been, Dinny? Good since te last time we saw each other?"

Dinny chuckled. He was rather fond of Candy...Holly too.
"Echerna's loik moi sister, oi'm found her when she'm werent but a likkle tyke loik oi was. We grew up tergether, and consider each other siblings."
He shook his head chuckling harder.
"Oi've been well miz. But oi dont moind sharin moi vittles with ee. Echerna's probably gone out ter foind her own anyhow. Oi'll be makin a soup with these berries. Oi already have ther spices at home for it. We could all go barck and eat thur if ee'd loik."

"Sounds like a good idea!" she smiled, tilting her head with approval. The red spinda clung to Holly's leg, climbing onto her back with ease. He looked at Dinny with a hard face; eventually, he eased up. Puffing his cheeks out, he said stubbornly,
"I'm hungry... Soup sounds good. Can we go now?!" He cross his arms.
"Be patient, Candy~" Holly crooned, giggling softly.

Dinny chuckled good naturedly at Candy.
"Hurr, cummon naow, this yur whould be enuff to make a gudd zoop!" He said, smiling, and waved his digging claws for his friends to follow. He waddled off, back towards his abode with the sack of berries.

Holly trotted afterwards with high spirits, smiling warmly.
Candy groaned and clinged tightly to the leafeon's back. Her movements, easy strides, made it tough to stay on her back. He moaned. "Holllyyyy, slow dooownnn!"
"Oh, okay, sorry!" She sowed into a walk and giggled cheerfully.
