I'm so surprised that someone has actually heard about him, the appearance of his name in the forum was like music to my eyes. Hahah, if that makes any sense at allllll...
I really don't know much about music, though, I quit both piano and bass at like age 11. ^_^;; I hear these things from my brother.
My favorites have always been Evil Eye and Icarus' Dream Suite.

I love Malmsteen! I'm actually listening to him now, among other things. I have to say though, my favorite songs by him are Arpegios From Hell, and Blitzkrieg. Amazing instrumentals!

I tried one of his CDs on a whim & became an instant fan. My fav song is probably Exile though several ties for number two are right behind it.

My dad knows I'm very into music and sent me some songs of Ynwie... and I instantly fell in love ^^
Right now I'm kinda addicted to I'm A Viking (and Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D Minor... but.. yeah xD [/offtopic])

Apparently knowing him means you're knowledgeable in music, or so the invite claimed. O well.
Yngwie is simply a genius. Have a song in which Yngwie plays a cover song of ABBA, Gimme Gimme Gimme! I'm sorta in love with that song.
Also love I'm a Viking, Rising Force and Blitzkrieg.
Got the album and DVD of the G3 in which he accompanied Joe Satriani and Steve Vai through North America in 2003. Solo he's genius, combined with those two it gets even better.
So, any one also been listening to Steeler or Alcatrazz?
Yngwie played lead guitar in both bands for those who don't know. 1 Album with Steeler (1983), 2 with Alcatrazz (1984).

We'll all i can tell you is that yngwie malmsteen is a genius as everyone knows but what people do not know is that win order for yngwie to get the tittle as the neo-classical king he droped out of school at the age of 14 and started working in his families music shop in sweeden also when he first started to learn music he started playing on a violin and started learning classical violin. by the time he enterd the states and bought his very first guitar which is the custom strat he usees today he took the classical training he had aquired and added it to his guitar plsying he still practiced 8 hours a day with no breaks and don't ask me how i know this im just a freak when it comes to music.
Also some people might not know this that his names is the sweedish translation for little viking chief also he was named after one of his moms ex-boyfriends.

Yngwie is definitely my favorite guitar player, he's an incredible influence on my own guitar playing and style. Favorite songs from him would be "Far Beyond The Sun," "Like An Angel," "Rising Force," "Evil Eye," and "Now Is The Time." His material from Alcatrazz was very good also...a little bit different than his solo stuff, but still pretty up there. Check out "Island In The Sun," "Jet to Jet," and "Since You've Been Gone," by Alcatrazz on YouTube, the live versions are great. Steeler was typical early-80s metal...nowhere near as good as the Alcatrazz stuff, but "Cold Day In Hell" is full of win.
