Okies, I was doing some research on how many other Chess guilds there were. And I found that there are 13 including us. And I was checking out some of their topics they were discussing to see just how many members are active and how organized they are. Most other guilds aren't very organized the Gaian Chess Club is about the only other one that isn't a role play, playing outside of Gaia, dead, or otherwise inactive.
I didn't know that there was a super guild made already called the "Joint Gaian Chess Foundation (JGCF)"! I think this is a terrific idea but I don't really think there are too many people that have chess guilds that are really active in them and playing actual games. I am part of a private guild that is in a sub forum for the chess part and has like NO members...
It seems like a good idea until you start to look at some of the other guilds and wonder how many of them are actually organized enough to do anything! I'm not trying to be a party pooper. I'm actually trying to do the opposite, because when I started writing this I was like "YES! We've got 12 other guilds to play against and a super guild to unite us!" and then I looked at the guilds on the inside... and was like "Damn. These pretty much suck." So I would love to have a super guild so we can all play together.
I would like to know what you think about this "Super Guild" idea, if you are part of any other Chess guild please do share and tell us how well that's going, and what you think we could do to help improve the chess playing on Gaia.
If that includes talking with admin, starting and signing petitions, joining other guilds and encouraging members, talking with captains from other guilds, or what not I'd be more than willing to go out and do all of these things because I really truly want this all to work for us and others. So please give me your input and we'll see what plans we can put into action!

So you noticed the Joint Chess Foundation? It was a plan originally pioneered by Hotehnoez and I, we discussed it one night. Later, Sake found out about our idea and cleared out one of his old guilds to make room for a Joint chess foundation. He sent out information to all the other chess guilds that he could find, and I'm not sure how well it is going for him. You could contact him if you'd like to find out some information. He should have a quote of my original PM that I sent to another chess guild to inform the m what was going on. I've got to leave for about 20 days or so, though.

Before we continue with this Joint Chess thing, we should probably get together a way to make sure people are active and come to games. That way we can share it with other guilds and help them to become more active.

i am just thinking outloud (an fall to my horindus spelling qwake!...wha ha ha twisted twisted twisted evil evil ninja rofl ) why dont we make like a ranking system somehow?... the more you enter and play a game once you make a certin ranking you get one ticket... then it starts over... we have a drawing with those tickets like every 3 months mabie( or sooner) and the drawn person gets a verified prize for that month...
that would let some come in more often... wouldnt it?

I was looking at the list of members and we have over 25 people that have NEVER posted. I wanted to send out an email to all those people and say "Hey! Don't forget about your lovely chess guild here. We're still looking for people to play so check out the guild announcements for the next game sign up!" but I didn't really want to do that till I had discussed that with everyone. I think a letter to the non-posters would be a nice reminder. Mandatory posts would probably at this point be kinda silly. Or maybe not. we're pretty big as it is so it might work.
