So, when you do circular knitting... on a circular needle... specifically for a hat...
Should the cable point towards you or away from you? Does it matter? What about if the hat has a cable pattern, is the front of the work the inside of the hat or the outside?
(I'm working on a tam which has cables on it, and so far I've done the brim, which is easy-peasy k2 p2 rib. But... I really don't want to mess up the pretty part... xd )

I know nothing of knitting, sorry. Have you tried looking at YouTube videos? There are lots of cable instructional videos, maybe those would help? Good luck!

Actually, I think I've got it figured out xd There was a website that showed how to cast on to a circ, and it says the cable should stick out away from you. So logically, since you are knitting from the bottom up, the front of the work is the outside of the hat and the back is the inside...
But I'm soooo much more comfortable knitting the other way! [/whine] cheese_whine xd

Just like knitting with dpn's or straight needles, hold it however you feel comfortable. How you're holding it shouldn't affect your knitting.

I do it with the outside facing out and the inside facing in.
And I sorta bend the work in half so that I'm holding the needles as you normally do, and the rest of the work isn't in the way.
