From the few I've heard I'd say either PoisonBlack (or was it virgin black) or Paradise Lost. I'll have to listen more before making a final decision.

I am swimming in a sea of confusion... After Forever? Epica? Within Temptation? Anabantha? I'll have to go study more.

Victum Soul I am swimming in a sea of confusion... After Forever? Epica? Within Temptation? Anabantha? I'll have to go study more. Those are great bands, but they don't stand out to me as much as Tristania, well, as Tristania's first three albums.

Update: Check first post
Note: The sooner the nominations are up, the quicker this contest will go.
Also why don't we explain why we picked the band. Not simply say because they are my favorite or that they are good. Explainations needed.
My Choice of PoisonBlack: I feel as though PosionBlack defines gothic metal. The vocals are perfect and the lyrics tie in perfectly with the mood and sound of each album. While I now find most gothic metal boring and repetitive, PosionBlack manages to keep the genre alive with a fresh dark sound.

I'd say I liked Poisonblack the most, but to add more to the thread I'll go ahead and say Paradise Lost.

I made my mind, and yes Holllow 3nodding , I too was thinking that we should be giving an explaination, otherwise we would have a very large list full of random bands for no good reason.
The band I choose is Anabantha. Because even living in a country where death and black metal are the most common genres (Mexico) they managed to become one of the most important gothic metal bands in Latin America. They are capable of making a good gothic metal song out of anything, let's say a southamerican tango (Una lagrima) or a power metal riff (Caen las hojas).

I'm just going to be lazy and point to my thread post about Sentenced to explain my nomination.
