Sonata Arctica are a power/progressive metal band from Finland. These guys were my absolute favorite band for quite a while and I have all of their songs except for 4... they still elude me... *glares* but I may list them later and I'll be eternally grateful to anyone that can supply me with them. To keep things short and simple, a lot of Sonata Arctica's songs tend to be on the lighter side music wise, but some of their songs are pretty fast and loud. On the whole they're a lighter power metal band. In case anyone's interested, they were formed in 1996 under the name Tricky Beans. They later changed their name to Tricky Means, and finally Sonata Arctica and they've obviously kept with it since. Their debut album Ecliptica came out in 1999. Ok, well that's it, I want to hear what people think and Tony Kakko's awesome!!! Woot! Alright! I found a video. It's a Hellsing amv to the song FullMoon. Presently, I have only nine of their songs:
-My Selene -Sing In Silence -Black Sheep -Tallulah -Shy -Fly With the Black Swan -The Cage -Full Moon -Wolf & Raven
My favorite now is My Selene.. The lyrics, the music, everything. A friend sent me the song one day, and I loved it so much that I was compelled to DL more of their stuff. Still getting to know the other tracks as well as My Selene, but I am rather fond of them thusfar. ^^

I have quite a few of their songs. By far, my favorite one is Revontulet. Followed by Kingdom for a Heart. =O

Pretty much got their whole discography on my hard drive. They're pretty good. It's my best net friend, who happens to be my only listed friend on Gaia at this time, is completely obsessed with them. She made me get all those songs surprised
Personally I like Shy (the lyrics pretty much describe the way I feel when I'm in love), Letter to Dana, Destruction Preventer, and 8th Commandment.

Great! Those are all great songs to have as favorites... picking a favorite is so freaking hard though... they're all so good in a light kind of way... so I like them most of the time but if I want something heavier I need to go with something like Amon Amarth and if I want faster I go to Rhapsody Of Fire, DragonForce, Blind Guardian or one of many thrash bands. =D Still, I'm a huge fan of these guys and it's so hard to pick a favorite band I always list them as my fav.

They are frigging amazing! I filled my MP3 play up with them, then went on a 3 hour walk to clear my mind. 3 straight hours of Sonata Arctica, back then, it was heaven, but now, it's annoying. I ruined a great band for myself! I don't enjoy them as much anymore. :S

HAHAHAHA, I did something similar except over a much greater period of time... I have heard Revonulet 163 times according to WMP, but I'm sure it's more than that. xD Most of their other songs are in similar boats and a couple like 8th Commandment and Black Sheep have been played at least 400... so naturally I'm a little sick of them at the moment and listen to a lot of other stuff... TRIVIUM!!!!! And many other bands... =D

I loooove Sonata Arctica. I tried them out after looking up various artists of genres I liked and found this gem. I hope I can see them in concert one day, but European bands rarely have their North American tours anywhere near me. So on that note... curse you, Lady_Naia. razz
I've got their entire discography, but that's quite a bit to share...
Nice to see that someone else actually knows who they are. Musical tastes aren't very broad where I live. ><

Oh yeah, I know lots of bands whose names would confuse the hell out of a great deal of people. I also like the obscure... Oh, and power metal and symphonic metal and stuff like that aren't really all that popular here in North America... And no good concerts come here either!!! DDD< We only get artists that have been playing for 20 or 30 years or more!! They's old... Dx

I like Sonata Arctica nowadays. When I first heard about them I didn't like their stuff at all. I thought it was just annoying band.
My favourite songs must be Wolf & Raven and Paid In full. No special reason for them though.
Finnish men are the hottest too. xD
