My Idea for the guild I think a good way for the guild to start up some live gaian chess and raise some money for the guild is to host some chess tornaments. The guild plays the peices while outsiders pay an entrance fee to play against other people. The tornaments will be 50/50, half the money goes to the winner of the tornament and the guild gets the other half. We could hold it weekly to make a good amount of funds. Watcha people think?

I think this is a good idea, but we will need a good amount of people to play pieces.
I'm sure I could make some mules to be some though. smile

Fund raising is a VERY good idea. But yeah, we'll need enough pieces. Maybe we can figure out a good mule situation. domokun

Ok.... so let me get this straight.
Guild members get to play for free in this tournament.
Non-Guild members have to pay a fee.
Prize money is divided 50/50 between Winner and Guild.
Ok I get the first one.
The second is a bit iffy for me. Now how do you suppose we keep all players that PAID in the game and keep all the other ones OUT? It's not like they couldn't just jump on the board. Would the team just ignore them like we do with other people that sit on our boards during a game? Is someone going to keep a list of all those that paid?
But the THRID? If there is a whole team playing do you split the 50% to the Winner to all playing members? Or just to the King? Doesn't seem quite right when there are lots of people playing... Now if you give it to the King and tell him/her to divide it between all the players, you put a lot of faith in the player of the King that changes each game. (not saying that the guild members aren't trustworthy if you get a Non-Guilder playing King then if they get the money they're going to stick their fingers up at us and disappear with the gold!)
Not trying to throw cannon balls in your sails but just trying to think through all possibilities for this potentially great idea! I mean this was something discussed at the very beginnings of the Guild. I hope that this can work I just want to make sure every avenue is covered before we start this adventure! biggrin
Oh and is there any way to find out what the total Guild funds are? Because if we don't have enough for a grand tournament we need to figure something out in the mean time.

I can supply one pawn one knight and one rook and you can log onto mules and mains simultaneously by simply logging on to an account going on towns then logging off the site leaving towns open then open your mule and open towns on a new page ^^

If we don't know who will be participating yet, then it shouldn't matter what pieces they have. confused You are free to make another topic asking what pieces people have though. I agree with Res we need to get the system down pat where we can get everyone who signed up to attend other wise we're running before we can walk and right now we're just crawling with this. Baby steps Knight of Water! smile It will make everything much easier
