Blythe looked asleep. She was lying in the bed on her side facing the wall and her breathing was even, yet her eyes were wide open in the dimly lit room. She was going over the day and and her mind just wouldn't shut down. Too many thoughts and it all centered around where she had slept last just 24 hours ago. She had been home in her warm and safe room, where she took care of hundreds of young boys. Now, now she was here in a strange place if it could even be believed!

Thinking too hard on it caused her to start having a panic attack so the sudden intrusion to her room was a welcome relief. Sitting up quickly she looked at the door, maybe she had not heard the knock? Either way she was in a very uncomfortable place where who knows what would try to come in.

Jamie stumbled into the room, wrapped in the blanket of his pervious bed half between exhaustion from it being the middle of the night, and him being unused to being up at that hour, and Half between his hurry to try and get to sleep. And now he wasn’t feeling all that well, dizziness and nausea had started to set in.

“S-sorry B-blythe” He murmured. He looked at the dark floor as he spoke. He’d so much rather the other boy explain what happened, he hadn’t even looked at Alex when all the commotion was going on. "Can't...I sleep here?"

Cecil had left Jamie for a moment to get a notepad and a pen, he came back with it held up to a candle and showed it to Blythe.

Hey, sorry to bother you, but the kid had a nightmare, you think he could bed with you tonight? The candle was shaking in Cecil's hand, he was still recovering from the shock of witnessing Alex's changes.

Her eyes widened and she fumbled for her glasses as she tried to egt out of bed. "Yes, yes of course but where is Ms. Karin? And for goodnesses sake what has happened your shaking like a leaf Cecil!" She hurried over to Jamie and gently guided him over to the bed and helped him in and placed the blanket over him. "Try to rest."

She then hurried over to Cecil and steadied the candle, his shaking was cause in the light to flicker and cast odd shadows everywhere. "Is everyone alright has something happened to the inn?"

Jamie tried to comply with Blythe’s request, but his nauseous was getting worse by the moment, and now he had an aching headache. He held his head as he sat up in his bed, pillow propped up behind him. He was trying his best to stay quiet and let Cecil explain what had happened to Blythe, Jamie was barely able to talk to people as it was, let alone when someone had just grown a tail.

Jamie groaned, his head was killing him, so where his feet. It felt something was trying to push though them. “It…it hurts” he squeaked “..I-I don’t want a tail….”

Cecil held his hand firmly, and put the candle on the nightstand. He leaned the notebook against his arm and wrote, I'm fine, I might look dressed for it, but it's cold without any heater around. Nothing's going on, Karin just wanted me to take him here to swtich. Cecil paused, looking up in thought- he added, Poor kid, I couldn't imagine being in this mess at his age.

The mute wanted to change the subject. Lies were easier to make when you wrote them down, but he could only go so far before he ran out of things to say. He sat to the side of Jamie's bed and gave the boy a empathic pat on the back. He didn't know what else he could do.

Blythe eyed him skeptically he was dodging the questions, a child's nightmare does not leave a grown man this shaken up. "Is there any reason why Karin would not wish to stay here tonight and what of Mr. Barrett does he not have a say in this matter?" Blythe pressed a bit, it was most unusual and she had heard excuses like this before back in England.

Her attention was pulled away though by Jamie. "Child what nonsense are you going on about?" Blythe tightly laughed. "Why would you think you would be getting a tail?" Blythe went and sat next to him. "Are you alright? I believe I do have a little bit of aspirin if you need it in my purse, do you need it?"

“Urrrrr..” Jamie held onto his head tightly, not that it helped much. New bones was starting to form under hi skin, and started to grow into two bulbous lumps just above his forehead. In scooted a little away from Cecil and Blythe, pressing himself up again the wall the bed stood next too. “I…I don’t want a tail” He screamed it a bit louder this time, as if he could tell the unknown force to go away and stop what it was doing.

His feet gave equal pain and agony as his toenails became thick and wider. ”Claws he though, he didn’t want to have those either. Jamie pressed the blankets to his face to cover his tears. “I’m going…going to be a m-monster…”

Cecil picked himself up and left Jamie some room. He went over to the candle light and wrote, I'm just cold. Jamie had a nightmare, so I got him over here. I don't know what else is going on. I'm going back to bed. Blythe would have to figure out what happened himself. Cecil didn't feel like playing messenger. He wanted sleep, close his eyes and forget the scene of Alex's changes like a bad dream.

He started towards the door, going back to his state of denial that he had when he first arrived here. Of course, like the first time, that would soon change...

Jamie's cry of pain both emotional and physical made her turn sharply towards him. "Jamie what are you going on about?" Blythe strode over to him. Honestly he was fully awake and his nightmare couldn't have been that bad. The child truly must have been coddled, well at least with her he would learn better and have to stand on his own. "Jamie you are going to have to calm down do you understand me? Now come out from under there." Her voice firm ushering in no excuses.

With that Blythe grabbed the top of the blanket and tried to pull it down and away from Jamie.

"Ur....o-okay" He muttered through his blubbering. "I..I'll try, but it...hurts." He shifted a little under the covers, trying to get his feet into a more comfortable position. But the covers where soon wrenched from him.

"D-don't look...p-please" Jamie sobbed, covering his eyes with his forearm, and trying his best to cover one of the partly formed bumps on his skull up with his other available hand. "P-please" He tried to pull the blanket back from Blythe to cover himself.

Cecil went out of the room- just to come back a moment later. He almost forgot his candle.

He showed Blythe his notebook, there was a quick note.

Good night, think you can handle it?

Blythe stumbled backwards in shock, letting the blanket go in the process. Her hand flying up to her mouth in a silent gasp. What was that?! Was he ill did he bump his head...? No it was different more centrilized...it couldn't be... She slowly shakily approached Jamie in the bed.

"J-jamie dear it's alright but you need to let me see. Maybe you just bumped your head and forgot about the pain during the excitement..." Blythe prayed to God that he was listening and that it was only a trick of the light that she saw.

A quick glance told her that Cecil had walked back in, yet she slowly turned her attention back to Jamie as her hand extended back towards Cecil raised in askance for something was visibly shaking at this moment. Her voice was slight in the beginning but steadied out as her continued. "Cecil would you...would you kindly pass the candle to me for a moment. I need to see somethig...I think young Jamie has simply and only bumped his head," She kept reassurring the boy that it was surely just a bump nothing more, and oh God did she hope she was right. This was too weird as it was, it was too soon for another log to be dumped into the road.

Blythe’s reaction didn’t help Jamie’s fragile state, he whimpered as he lowered his hands to let her get a good look at the two bumps that had appeared on his forehead. And now used them to curl up the blanket around him. “I...I didn’t h-hit my head.”

His ears burned momentarily as the lengthened and became pointed. Suddenly everything seemed a lot louder than before.

“Can…Can’t I just go to bed now?” He whined, pulled the sheets back up.

Cecil put the candle on the nightstand and wrote to Blythe, Just let him sleep it off, it's probably nothing.

He blew out a sigh and rolled his eyes. He didn't know Blythe all that well, but he was pretty sure she had some kind of mother complex when it came to kids. Which wasn't nesceserily a good thing in this case. She meant well, sure, but the kid just wanted to get some sleep for goodness sakes.
