I Fudged up.....
I have a save just before I exit the central building of the Imperial City to lead Martin to the Temple of the One. Stupid me forgot to get health pots. Stupid me forgot to take a bow for the item dupe. Stupid me hit lvl 19....
I have tried over twenty times to guard this son of a b***h but he keeps dying. I know why....my level is too high. I'm a mage so I really dont have the hp or the block skill to keep the hits off and I havent bought a heal other spell in my life. If anyone has a stradegy that may help me I would be very grateful. If not, I guess I'll just have to play my Dark Brotherhood gal till the end.

Click and drag below for my advice. If it doesn't work after a few tries, then the only other advice I can give you is good luck with your Dark Brotherhood character. Oh, and ALWAYS have multiple saves.
When you enter the Temple District have all the speed bonuses you can get, run towards Mehrunes Dagon, get the Journal Entry, run back to Martin talk to him, then rush to the Temple door (just run the gap between Mehrunes Dagon and Temple walls). When you enter the Temple no matter how far Martin is he will enter the Temple with you.

well do you have an auto save? You should be able to complete the quest no matter the level. but i did it buy useing instant kill spells. Do you have the Frostcrige spire?

UESP's way didn't work for me.
i was level 33, so this worked the best for me...
if you are a mage then defiantly get a high level protect other alteration spell from the cheydinhal mages guild and fortify your speed.
thats the easiest way to do it at higher levels.
