I hope to stay on top of this as new items are released and retired from the cash shop from here on out... As we all may know, today Gaia released some new Cash Shop items for our enjoyment... or to our disappointment. The items released today (February 2 cool are as follows: Magical Girl's Lovely Heart Gloves (40gc) Pristine white gloves adorned with cute little gold hearts that give off a mysterious sparkle in the moonlight...This item is pretty self explanatory. Magical Girl's Uniform (99gc) Ah, the sweet life of a Magical Schoolgirl: secret powers, cutesy costumes, billowing bows and your very own adorable animal sidekick. But, as a wise man once said to his radioactive nephew, with great power comes great responsibility. Are you prepared to shriek with glee all the time, often for no reason? Will your friends recognize you after you dye your hair pink and add -chan to your name? Only the strong, powerful and ridiculously cute need apply!Though this item is pretty much identical to the February MC, Gaia has made the choice to include with it new items that aren't offered by the MC (none of which come in RED, mind you.) including stockings, a new brooch, and winged shoes. Colors include Blue, Pink, Purple, Green, Black and Yellow. Certificate of Adoption (49gc) This certificate states that you are now the legal guardian of this shabby meadows orphan.Remember that adorable Christmas event in which you brought joy to orphans all over Gaia? Remember how many damn petitions popped up pleading with the staff to let us keep those little scamps? Oh yes... now we can have our very own orphan! I'll have pictures and descriptions of the orphans up as soon as I can. ----------------------------- So here's where you all come in. As GCDer's, we all have opinions (sometimes very LOUD opinions) so I want to know your thoughts on all this re-making an MC and utilizing event stuffs. Ready... Set... Discuss!

My opinion is not a good one...I am by no means a hater chugging haterade or a cranky never-satisfied with Gaia person. I love this site but I am definitely in the disappointment camp with this update. I don't want my complaint to be automatically dismissed with "Cash Shop items are optional, you don't have to get it, you are never happy" posts...I was reading Site Feedback earlier and stuff like that gave me a headache so I logged off. But I don't like the re-release/colors of the MC and I don't like the buyable orphans. I saw many users want to adopt them after the event but I'm sure purchasing them with money was not on their minds. I'm entirely overwhelmed with Cash Shop...I know I don't have to buy the stuff offered...but for some reason the buyable orphans and recolors just sat odd with me.

The colors seem a bit too glaringly bright to me ( except for the black) so I'm just ignoring that.
But I hate how you have to pay for orphans with money. (I got one as a present, but STILL.) I know they're just 10k, but really- it feels as if Gaia is selling out more and more these days. There are more and more sponsor-quests and cash shop items, and in my opinion, Gaia is heading towards a cash-dominated site.
Maybe Lanzer wants a new car? D:

I'm in agreement with you folks.
And, well, Gaia doesn't need all these items. We could get by with the occasional update easily. The rush of new material into the market really isn't doing any good.
I'd take less, better-quality items and plot updates over all this.. overkill anyday.
(And they could have made an amazing plot update to explain for the re-release of orphans.)

I agree with you guys.
I would have loved the orphan thing if it were through an event, or a quest, just some way we actually had to work for them rather than spend real money. I can't afford the cash shop. sad

So many Gaians wanted to adopt the orphans after the Christmas event...there was a massive petition going on and I saw so many people with avatar art featuring their favorite orphan. It bums me out that Gaia sort of took advantage of that and made the orphans Cash Shop items. I don't mean to whine...I know Gaia has bills to pay! It just made me sad to see the orphans in the cash shop. Plus the re-color of the Magical Girl did not sit well with me either. *sigh*
It seems the focus of Gaia is now the Cash Shop. Word to Pennie Black- what happened to plot updates? I too would much rather have weekly plot updates than weekly cash shop updates.

I hate to say it... but I disagree with a few of you.
..I only bought ten adoption papers from the cash shop, the rest were bought off the market place. (I feel so bad buying children. sweatdrop )
I do believe that buying helps gaia.. I know everyone is like "RAWR WHY DO WE PAY MONEY FOR THIS?!?! IT ONLY GIVES THEM VACATIONS!"
Gaia has over 100 people working there... and growing. They have to pay for servers, paychecks, mortgage/rent/whateverthehellitisforthehq, among other important things... they updated the towns avatar system a few days ago with the money...
I'm not saying I'm happy about it, just that it is necessary.

I understand Gaia has a lot of bills and payments to make on things, but I am really disappointed about the remaking of the Magical Girl. I bought one because I wanted to save it for the value increasing so I can do some questing. I'm extremely aggravated because you get a lot of the same stuff for cheaper and even extra stuff... thus decreasing the value of the MC. This was my first collectible and I'm kind of put off by them doing that. Not to mention I accidentally purchased TWO of them crying
I REALLY would like some plot updates... or some sort of STORY for the re-use of the orphans.... It may sound awful, but I don't want to put money into a site that no longer keeps up with the storyline the site kind of moves around... and instead comes up with weekly ideas to make more money.

On another note, I'm lucky as far as the orphans I bought from the cash shop... I got the two I really liked and wanted. Although I know a LOT of users weren't so fortunate (and I still kind of want mr. raccoon...)

I do agree... it is pretty stupid that they remake the MC's... But if they go the same way the wild things did... D: Lets just say it would be worse

I have no bills yet, so I tend to be a little loose with my real-life money, but still, I have no problem with it. No matter how much we hate to think of it, Gaia's a business, and even a fluffy business like my Build-a-Bear Workshop or a haven for the unique like Gaia has a bottom line.

I got my own little Near-in-a-Box my first try too! <3 *pets him and gives him toys* I don't know. I've been living on my own for over a year and a half now and I only make about 700$ a month (between two jobs, which is PATHETIC) so paying for neato items like the orphans and such makes me sad... and then the whole remaking the MC that I bought makes me a little frustrated with some of the decisions Gaia has been making lately.
