It was obvious Cecil had accepted the fact that this might be a alternate dimension after all, Alex's tail had proved that almost indefinately- still, there was a part of him who still hoped that there was some way back to modern civilization, either By magic or by stumbling over the interstate; Cecil still gripped onto a world that was sifting through his fingers.
Being a typical urbanite, Cecil didn't like stumbling through the forest. The closest he was to nature was at the park or the zoo back in his world. He had went camping upstate once- twelve inches of rain pouring down on a collapsing tent had turned off Cecil to nature for good. Tripping over the rocks and vines of the untamed nature around him didn't change his opinion either.
It's like the story of the city mouse and the country mouse he thought, The city mouse had no clue what to do in the country, and I don't either. He frowned and wandered through the trees, having strayed from the main road; He searched for any sign of his old world, streetsigns, the sounds of speeding cars, even a old potato chip bag from his dimension would brighten Cecil's mood in this leafy green hell.

Ah tracking, a simple yet surprisingly deep art that could provide hours of entertainment as the hunter tracked its unknowing prey. Bow in hand, Ezekiel continued to follow the strange footprints he had been trailing for the past two hours. The man, had no idea what creature had made them...or if he was following one of those strange people, yet either way there was of course money to be made. Either from trinkets, or from perhaps a pelt, some fangs, and other items from the carcus of a rare beast.
The aspect of more money made the man silently hum to himself, a cheery tune echoing in his mind. Perhaps soon he would have enough money to move his shop and home out of that wretched hellhole, after all he deserved better. Yet what was odd was that this creature seemed to be wandering without a purpose. It had no pack, there was no water in this area, and as far as food was concenrd...well at this time of the year there was little.
Times were getting stranger by the day.
And thats when he saw him...the strange creature...it wore cloths and walked like a man, yet had a few features of some animal. "Ah." He muttered, pulling back his bow. Perhaps...he could acquire a few answers and maybe a couple of items...after all, maybe the beast would grow a pelt later on for sale.
"STOP!" Korbin shouted after firing one arrow that zoomed past the man's ear before drawing another again.

Cecil's ears flinched when the arrow flew past him. Golden eyes widened, and then narrowed. The changes. Cecil's tail rose up in anger. Some idiot just had to remind him of that. He had been going all day trying to ignore what happened to him last night, and some b*****d decided to shoot at him.
A low growl eminated from Cecil's throat. If this guy wants to treat him like an animal, he'll act like an animal. Clawing out a guy's eyes out didn't count as murder if he was an animal, right? Cecil didn't know how the law worked around here, but he was pretty sure that animal attacks would probably count against the man's judgement than another person. So really, he didn't have anything to lose- not that he had much in the first place.
The hunter had caught this "Animal" in a VERY bad mood.
Stop? He'll stop alright. Cecil ran straight for him, and tackled the man to the ground before he had a chance to notch another arrow. His eyes glinted with malice as he raised a clawed hand.

It wasn't a human of legend...instead it appeared to be some sort of demon, one that only appeared as a human. Of course Korbin tried to remain calm as the creature tackled him, letting out only a slight whimper upon the harsh impact. Instinctively the man rammed his elbow against the monster's neck. "MONSTER!" HE cried, now thrashing about as he tried to block his assault. "You don't know who your dealing with!" Of course deep down he was terrified, he had never been this close to death before, espically against a monster. And in this terror he wondered if there were more of these beasts out there...
And if they were contagious.
At this thought, the man's eyes were filled with fear.
If he became one of those...well he would perhaps have to kill himself. Who would be able to live like an animal?

Of course I know who I'm dealing with Cecil thought bitterly, I'm dealing with some moron who can't tell an animal from a human being! He may have pounced on the man, had claws, and some really freaky looking eyes, but he still was human. He looked like a human, acted like a human (With the exception of now, of course) walked like a human, and given the right circumstances, talked like a human.
Perhaps... Cecil needed to argue his case a little, and being in a position to claw the man's eyes out wasn't helping. He started to growl, and stopped growling, the growling probably wasn't helping either.
Nonetheless, he couldn't help but feel a certain joy in terrifying the man. It served him right; The guy nearly killed him. Cecil was breathing heavily, his claws still up in the air, at an indecision on what to do next. What was definately off the list was clawing the hunter's eyes out. Maybe just maiming him will- Wait, no, he needed to prove to this man that he was human, with characteristics that said otherwise and no voice to explain, this was going to be difficult.

Korbin continued to thrash about violently, no longer thinking about anything other then survival. The man didn't even realize that the creature had hesitated, trying to decide his fate. "GET OFF OF ME YOU FOWL MONSTER"! He screamed, trying to use his bodyweight to shift their positions, and then of course, run. Yet...Korbin was an old man, and was quickly becoming exhausted in this fight for his life. Sweat was creased on his brow, his joints now aching. Soon...this fight would be over, and he would be at this monster's mercy. Why didn't he kill him in the first place?

Cecil winced at the word "Monster" He may had pinned down the old man like a cat on a mouse, but at least Cecil wasn't gorging the man's brains out of his skull. Cecil dropped his hand and got off the man. He offered a hand and tried an appologetic look with eyes that were filled with rage just a moment ago.
The mute held up a finger meaning, "Hold on". He searched his bag for the Baron's note and found it. Cecil unfolded it and pointed at the Baron's seal. Perhaps a connection to the town will convince the man that he was friendly. Or at least, not an animal. Cecil seriously doubted that he was friendly to the hunter.

Korbin stared at the piece of paper that the creature had offered him...and it was yet another thing that didn't make sense about the entire situation. Why would some sort of odd half breed monster have that particular paper with the Baron's seal on it no less. A forgery perhaps? If it was...well Korbin could make a pretty penny redirecting people to whatever forger made the sheet of paper. Or, had this beast once been human?
No, thats impossible.
"Allow me to take a better look at that." The hunter said after standing to his feet. Korbin then extended a hand for the monster to hand him the paper.

Cecil gave the man a glare, which was twice as shifty with his unusual eye color. He stepped over to the man cautiously- Cecil still didn't trust the man, but who could blame him? The hunter didn't hesitate to shoot him the first time, Cecil could only suspect that he'll do it again with the chance. The mute gave the man the piece of paper at arm's length, looking at the man in the eyes.

Korbin took the paper and for a few long moments looked it over, his eyes growing progressively wider as he did. Slowly, and with a shaky hand the man handed it back. It was real. All of it. There wasn't a single forger in the world who could make anything like that. Now, a new, and rather terrifying question arose in the man's mind. "What the hell happened to you?" He asked, not at all realizing that this creature was a mute.

Cecil's eyes narrowed. How the hell was he supposed to know? It was as new to him as it was to this man. He crossed his arms and shrugged. What else he could do? If the hunter was like everyone else in the village, he couldn't read, and he didn't want to freak out the man's Medieval mindset with his psudotalking. Cecil was close to just throwing up his arms, turning his back, and leaving- but that wouldn't work out and the man would still be terrified of him, so he decided to try charades.
He held his throat lightly, and then shook his head, it was the best mime of "I can't speak" he could think of.

"..." The man stared, alright, perhaps this beast had lost its mind also. Yet as he stared at Cecil, anger grew...now this lad was wasting his valuable time. "How about I cut you through and you write your last words in your blood!" He snapped after a few moments of annoyed staring. "I'm not some moronic common man from the town, I can wrote more then my own name, and do more then pretend to read the holy scriptures." After all...a man of his...profession needed to read anyway. "Now whelp," It seemed as though he had forgotten the attack. "I suggest you speak unless your a..." Korbin blinked, realization dawning. "Your a mute...arnt you?"

If this man wanted to let off some steam on him, Cecil was going to let loose a tidal wave of anger back. He calmly took out his notebook, flipped to a clean page, and wrote something down on the paper. Silence followed as he capped the marker, put it back into his bag, and looked at the man.
Being a mute was a very convieient thing at times. For one thing, they couldn't yell at anyone when they were angry, so they had the license to do the next best thing- physical violance.
Korbin got a notebook to the face and a elbow to the chest before Cecil threw down his furiously written message to the hunter.
Don't you DARE threaten me! it said in broad marker strokes, And if you call me a monster one more time, I swear I will be a monster when I'm through with you! Cecil snarled, and swung his back on the man.

"You know." Korbin said, looking down at the words for a moment before holding it back out to Cecil with his left hand. His right was on a small dagger hidden beneathe his cloak. "Underlines work just as well to display anger. And multiple explination marks. I know its improper grammer, but it may help more then a snarl. Afterall...your not a monster, right?" Sarcasum was now in his voice, if the mute tried another thing...well he would be tasting steel. "But you havent given me a proper name to call you by. And most people seem even more angerd then you when I call them child, or in your gender's case, boy. Now then, I am not quite sure what you are...or what happened. But I would like to know. And I happen to have a flask of ale on me, and I may be inclined to share...for information." This person...he was dressed like that strange woman he had meant earlier...were these people really from another time? And were they really all going to transform?
