em.. just a simple one.. em... does
Nahrungsmittel and Lebensmittel mean the same thing...(ie.. food)
or
1. Is there a specific time to use a specific one..(like a certain type of food?)
2. Is it just like male/female/neutral versions ??

They are more or less the same, you can't make a fault by mixing them up.
Both words are neutral, but normally you use them in plural.
