Seiya held the basket in his hands, the rough edges digging into his fur. He took a minute to stare into the moon's incandescent surface before shaking his head, clearing his thoughts and starting again.
In the plain, the irises leaned with the wind, passing their scent over the land like an aura over the sleepy city. Smiling to himself, Seiya bent down and picked one, placing it in the basket.
Sighing, he sat down in the very middle, the night light blending in with his dark fur.
"I'm sorry, Kurei," he whispered, fingering the milky petals of the flower between his fingers, swallowing down a fiery wave of tears. Overhead, a dark cloud passed over the moon, enveloping the world in darkness.
"I just... I can't do this. Not even for you."

Suddenly, a cheerful mouse bounded over the field. Minn loved the feeling when the iris petals brushed lightly against her legs. Minn took one last hop and appeared next to Seiya. Minn bent down into a squat and stared at Seiya with curious, sparkling eyes.
"What'cha doing?" Minn asked, with a voice full of glee.
A gentle breeze blew over the field, and it played with the long grass covering the field.

Seiya shivered, craning his head skyward and squinting.
"Kurei...?" he whispered, blinking. The cloud over the moon slid off promptly, revealing a kind face that was similar, but not Kurei's. Seiya bit his lip. He had known.
She wasn't gonna come back, ever.
"I-I'm sorry. I mistook you for someone else. I'm picking flowers, actually. For someone that I loved very much." he whispered, looking over the field with a melancholy glaze over his eyes.
"W-what might you be doing here?" he rushed, eager to get off the topic. Watching the girl mouse carefully, he clutched at his heart and felt his pulse against his hand, beating, beating, beating.
He squeezed his eyes shut.
I don't wanna see anything if you can't.

"Me? Oh! I was about to pick flowers too, but then I saw you sitting in the middle of the field, so I bounded over. I wanted to see what you were doing. I love making friends!" Minn smiled a very friendly smile towards Seiya.
She looked around for a few moments, looking for something.
Suddenly, her eyes lit up and she quickly ran towards a spot and picked up something from the ground.
She skipped back to Seiya, with something in hand.
It was an iris, a white one indeed. It was a big white iris, and it was beautiful, just perfect.
"My contribution." Minn said with a smile, and she dropped into the basket Seiya was holding.
"I'm Minn, what's your name?"
I hope we can become friends. I'm starting to like his personality.

Seiya nodded carefully, running a quick glance over her elegant clothing, then back to her sea-grey eyes. They sparked a memory, somehow, of legends of Athena and faraway places called, 'the ocean'. They reminded him of the stars, though he dared not to say it aloud.
"Then you like irises, too? I love this field. I come here a lot," he remarked, leaning back and losing himself in the scent of flowers. She smelled like flowers, like irises, he noticed. It was a sweet smell.
He kept his gaze on the perfect iris as he spoke, wondering if this girl was Kurei's way of staying with him, long after she was gone. Because everything about her reminded him of Kurei; her smile, her actions and her scent of irises.
Seiya grinned- a small grin, more or less fake. But who could blame him? No one wants to smile when your everything is gone.
"I'm Seiya. It's nice to meet you, Minn. Will you be here for much longer?"

"I really don't know. I don't really come here a lot," Minn replied. "My mom restrains me a lot. But whenever I come here, I lose myself in this beautiful field. I like lying down in between all these beautiful irises and staring at the clouds. It gives me a chance to run away from this world and into a perfect, paradise one. There's always a calming feeling to it."
Minn laid back into the flowers next to Seiya and inhaled a big, deep breath. She stared at Seiya. A soft wind blew over the field and played with Seiya's dark blue fur. She turned back towards the sky, smiling.
"Nice to meet you Seiya."

Seiya turned his head to the side a little hesitantly, wondering why the girl would lie down next to him when they had just met. He opened his mouth to ask, but instead he was greeted with beautiful visions of his Kurei and ended up not staying anything at all.
Squeezing his eyes shut, he let loose another breath, knowing the warm air would soon hit the sky.
"Then... if you don't mind, will you stay here, with me, a little longer, Minn?" he traipsed carefully, opening his eyes to be met with hers. He fancied he could find the answers in her eyes, like he did in Kurei's, and for a second he did see them, glimmering faintly beyond his reach.

Pausing to think about it for a while, Minn finally said "Ok, sure!" with a soft voice unlike her normal one.
Minn picked an iris from the ground and studied it, pairing it against the true blue sky. Smiling to herself, she closed her eyes and inhaled the deep flowery scent of the field, and calmness swept over her.
She indulged herself in her paradise world.
Still with her eyes closed, she asked quietly,"what's making you seem so glum?"

Seiya shivered, watching the iris tremble in the slightest gale. It looked so small and fragile, compared to the sky, so breakable.
This is what happens to beauty, he reminded himself, bitterly turning his head to Minn, refusing to look at it. Biting his lip, he watched her expression, wondering why she would care and if she was worth telling.
Also closing his eyes, he left his arms limp beside him.
"I just lost someone that I loved very much, and she was... she was everything to me." he confessed, watching Minn's face for any hint of what she was feeling inside.

Minn was silent for a moment.
She sat up, smiling sympathetically at Seiya.
"Sometimes...........'
She paused, as if she was thinking about the exact words to say.
"Sometimes you just have to live life to its fullest. You can't always have everything you want, otherwise........otherwise......"
Minn didn't finish. She got up, and ran around the field then came back, falling back into the soft grass, laughing.
"That was fun."
I wish he'd be happier.

Seiya stared through her smile, returning it. In her shadow, he saw the remains of what he had, ashes, ashes and a burning flame threatening to destroy everything. Above, the moon mocked him, burying its face behind peaks and folds of weary cloud. He watched the flames and the moon converge into one final explosion and sat in the center of it all, living.
"Everything I want, huh," he chuckled to himself dryly, sending an apologetic glance at Minn.
"Maybe I am wanting too much..." he murmured to himself, gripping his own arm so hard that it left marks when he let go.
Seiya laughed with her when she got back, reaching out and touching her arm.
"Was it?"

"Of course!" Minn replied cheerfully, and gazing a bit nervously down at the paw on her arm.
"You should try. It's really relaxing. It's like letting go of your burdens and worries for a while."
Minn sat up and started to make a pleasant bouquet of the irises and long grass.
"hmm?" her eyes suddenly lit up, sparkling as the moonbeams hit her eyes. She pulled up something from the ground, a green unidentified object. She held it up towards the twinkling stars, spinning it lightly in her hand.
It was a four-leaf clover.
She handed it to Seiya,
"For luck.......after all that's happened."

"What if I don't want to let go, Minn? What if I want to feel this kind of pain forever, because I don't ever want to let go of her...?" he shivered, lifting his hand from her arm once he realized she was uncomfortable with it.
"I'm sorry. I barely know you, and you've been listening to my troubles this whole time..." he spoke quietly, his voice a little clipped and abrupt, as if he had trouble breathing slowly.
Sitting up, he shielded his eyes from a brilliant moonbeam, opting to turn and stare into them reflecting off her moon-colored eyes. They were like stars, after all.
Taking the small plant into his hands, he stared at it, imagining it growing into something more. He blinked, and it was gone.
Standing up, he stretched out his arms and threw one last glance at his basket that now lay tipped to the side, the two lilies touching like forbidden lovers. He smiled, reaching down a hand to Minn.
"Then would you like to come with me? 'It's like letting go of your burdens,' right?"

Letting out a little laugh, a friendly cheerful one of course, Minn reached up to the extended furry little hand, and took hold of it. Minn led the way, and as they ran through the beautiful field, Minn thought,
I'll never give up. I'll make him happier someday, I will.
Suddenly, Minn tripped and fell, pulling Seiya down with her. Rolling down a small grassy hill together, she ended up laughing at the bottom, and somehow with a purple lilac in her mouth.
That was unexpected.
Spitting out the lilac from her mouth, Minn said, "Now wasn't that fun? Just let go of your burdens. I know you don't really want to, but please, at least for a while? Just for the feeling of it. The pressure's off, and you'll feel much better. Minn stood up slowly and started twirling, her dress flowing with the breeze over the hill. The grass seemed to bow down towards her as she spun around and around............
