Today was one of those days where you feel as though spring has come even though you're stuck in the midst of winter. And Kaito was one of those mice that seem to dislike every single type of weather, whether it was sunny or cloudy or even snowstorming. Today though, was different. He was actually taking a walk in the local park about a block away from the house where he had lived in with his house mates.
The sun shone on his greyish fur and deep brown hair. his shirt had one button from the top off like it normally was. He walked wearily to a quiet clearing inside some rose bushes where humans could not see. He lay down on his back and looked up at the clear blue sky and glimmering sun as it stared back at him.

Persephone held up the trailing rims of her dress daintily above the ground and stepped outside, suppressing a gasp at the cold aura surrounding the land. Tip-toeing away from her house, she skipped across the pavement, looking for a place to think.
Persephone was a thinker and a liar (and a magic bean buyer). She loved the quiet and keeping things from other people, and her voice was always serene and calm. She kept her feelings bottled in, always, and today was not an exception.
Humming a familiar tune, she shielded her sensitive azure eyes from the sun with a stray hand, flicking her tail back and forth behind her.
Catching the scent of roses in the air, she let out a 'lah~' of happiness and put a jump into her gait, intent on finding the flowers.

The sweet smell of roses drifted up into the air and made the mussy haired mouse succumb to the sweet smell of it. Kaito's eyelids seem to quickly feel heavier and heavier. The sky seemed to spin to him as his eyes closed and there was nothing but the sweet smell of roses.
'no one will bother me here...' he thought to himself before he was swept off his tired butt towards a nice nap.

Floating down the sidewalk, Persephone felt at home, singing a fleeting melody and letting her thoughts run loose. Catching a stray breeze in her wings, she exhaled slowly, decided that there was nothing she loved more.
Persephone was a fierce thinker and talked to herself, sometimes, in her bedroom. She loved to sing and think most of all, and ponder the mysteries of life. There were times when she would completely lose herself in her thoughts and sit still, in one spot, staring at a curious object for hours, her brain cooking up theories and calculations and dreams of another life.
She was following the scent until she came upon a bush that towered high above her head; with leaves as verdant as the forest and roses that had just bloomed after the winter.
Suppressing a smile, she pushed herself between the old fence and a few leaves, avoiding the prickles in distaste.
Sighing into the sweet aura, she spotted a rather handsome mouse, about her age, leaning in the grass. He looked rather dead just lying there, and she steadied her heartbeat as she sat herself down beside him, picking up her immaculate dress so that it blossomed around her like a flower.

Kaito, oblivious to the world around him, just continued to sleep before an unfamiliar scent in the wind. His limp body was unable to move due to laziness and still being half asleep.
He opened one eye and saw a blurry image of what looked like a woman. He blinked his red eyes as the sun shone in them. They became clear as he saw it really was a woman. He pushed himself up onto his pants covered butt and turned sleepily at the female.
"What brings you here?" He asks nonchalantly before a large mousey yawn.

Persephone smiled a serene smile at his awakening.
Turning her head to the sigh, she leaned back onto her shoulders, drawing in a long breath before replying.
"I simply followed the scent of roses, you?" she lilted, closing her eyes against a backdrop of brilliant emerald.
Because I love roses, she thought, but didn't say aloud. She raised her eyebrows in bliss, wondering if this mouse could tell what she was really feeling inside with a glance.

He wanted to slide back down onto his back but it was rude to do so while trying to hold a conversation. "eh, it's 'cause this place is well isolated through the harsh thorns. guess the roses do smell nice" He said without even thinking of a more graceful way to say it. He was one of those people who wouldn't keep his blunt words in for anyone, even his lover. "it's a good place for a nap, no?" He said with a chuckle in his tone.

Persephone nodded along to his response, relieved that he couldn't see through her. Feeling the tickle of the long blades of grass down her back, she giggled playfully, fingering a particularly long, thin one in fascination.
"You like sharp things, then?" she wondered aloud, eyeing the sword-sharp tips of the thorns dangling like a wall of violence waiting to be shed.
Blinking at him, she managed a gentle smile.
"Yes, it is, isn't it? I'm sorry, I must've disturbed your nap. By all means, continue," she offered, reaching out a hand and flattening the grass where he had lifted himself from.
"I'll just stay here a little longer, if you don't mind."

Kaito held in a yawn that made his eyes water a bit. He rubbed it away with his sleeve, replying quickly with, "not really. just gives me some protection, that's all."
"I'd much rather keep you company miss..." He couldn't put his finger on her name, or rather he had never met her before.

Persephone watched her companion slowly, catching the contagious yawn and excersizing one herself. Blinking away her tears, she wiped blindly at her face.
"Why would a mouse need protection?" she wondered aloud again, slipping her hands behind her into the grass.
At his comment, she giggled.
"I'm very flattered to hear that. You may call me whatever you like, kind sir, but my name is Persephone." she trilled, her own name rolling of her tongue sweetly.
Bringing her lapis-lazuli wings in, she rolled onto her stomach and stared up into the eyes of the male.

"Us mice need all sorts of protection from things such as cats who wish to kill us for enjoyment." He said aloud, looking back into her sapphire coloured eyes with his blood red ones.
"Persephone huh? what a lovely name." He spoke, "Persephone." He echoed it once more. He fell onto the tall grass blades, squishing them softly below his mousey body.

"Cats..." Persephone pronounced slowly, tasting the word on her tongue.
"How morbid," she remarked, cracking open one eyelid to send a tranquil gaze into his ruby pupils. "I prefer to pretend that we're always safe."
Of course we're not safe... this was a smart idea, she praised in her head, her mouth still and unmoving.
"Peeeersephone," she teased him, a laugh bubbling up from her heart.
"And what might your name be?" she inquired, curious, never breaking eye contact with her new friend lying down.

"Pretending is more fun, ain't it?" It was a rhetorical question. He looked into her sapphire eyes with his blood red ones. "Kaito." He said, not as impressed like he was with her lovely name. "Yes, Peeeeeeeersephone~" he said back playfully, rolling onto his stomach, closer towards Persephone. This was the most fun he was having in his whole mousey life.

Persephone eyed him warily.
"It's always more fun~" she trilled, leaning into a net of her own fingers and peering up at their deadly canopy. Suppressing a shiver, she sent a sweet smile at Kaito.
"Kaiiiitoooo~" she sang, giggling.
"See? It still works. Kaito. Ka-i-to."
As he rolled forward, she shuffled so that their shoulders touched, sending him another grin. Above, a small wind ruffled the tips of the rose bush, sending in dappling spring light to dance into their small hideout like light reflecting off a chandelier.
"It's beautiful in here." she remarked, admiring the sunbeams drifting down like feathers falling from the sky.
I haven't seen such a sight in a while... she marveled in her head.

Kaito grinned back at this female mouse, return for her sugary smile. "Perseeeeeeephone~" He said in a sing-song tone of voice back at her, letting a chuckle get the best of him. "Sure it works but Persephone is more fun to sing. See, Per-se-phon-e~" He said, giving her a charming grin as their warm shoulder's touched. He didn't reply to her last comment since he fully agreed. He spun around back on his back, but still touching his shoulder upon hers.
