Yesterday a blackout happened across Florida due to evidentially (according to my local news station) a small fire in a nuclear power plant in Miami. I had a total "WTF?!" moment when I heard that one, especially since it's pretty much in my backyard (and my family and I'd all pretty much be in at least a zone where we'd get sick, if not in a fallout zone). I also find it hilarious that despite blackouts all over my adopted city (Orlando), even around my college, I'm the only person I know who didn't lose power at all, whether at work or at home. I also find the coincidence to be hilarious that after they restored power to all these people, a cold front with one of the nastiest storms in a while blows through and knocks out more people's power xd
So, discussion! Blackouts, bad weather, feelings on power, and general "lol" moments when you heard news stories.

Every time I read the news, and see 3 pages devoted to a losing football team, when pretty much every other club is going to state, I laugh, an then feel a little ashamed. Texans can be stupid when we want...

yea, I know that feeling. Our school isn't very awesome at sports yet (our football is up-and coming) but everyone's like "ZOMG GO SEE THE BASKETBALL GAME TONIGHT!!!!" in e-mails from the school. Then we fail miserably xd the only "sport" we're good at is cheer leading. UCF is now the defending National Champs and we even have a TV show about our team now O.o
*Edit: now with a link to the show.

Our cheerleaders were pretty bland. And they had the worst reputations. The good teams were our UIL, our track, and our soccer. And they still didn't get much spotlight (UIL didn't get any).

I loled earlier today when I went at got my final trim before my big haircut. I went into a local place and the stylist I got had a fit over the thickness of my bangs. She even made a point of dividing them up into the "normal" portion and the "extra" portions. The only way I could get her to shut up about it was to promise her that I'd grow them out when I cut my hair. I laughed about how worked up people can get over something as stupid as bangs. If I can pull off thick bangs then more power to me.

Our local news station is hosted by a group of four ditzy girls. It gets on my mother's nerves all the time. Dx

I don't know if I could stand that. My dad gets kind of annoyed by a local weather guy who is obviously drunk on the air almost constantly, but my friend and old roommate (who also happens to be Jeff's little sister, heh) and I were always so amused by the stumbling, red nose and slurred speech xd
