Betha - teatroll: Betha is a good natured creature, with fluffy ears and tail. She delights in all things domestic, regardless of it's tediousness. She is a very contented and pleasant individual, and has an affectionate nature. She is very flexible, not bothered by unexpected changes, no matter how large. Generally she is very unruffled, peaceable and reassuring. Most teatrolls are generally like this, though there are extremes in both directions. Betha tends to be an extreme on the good-natured side. Her special talents include cooking, organization, and a touch of calming magic. Her view on life is very practical. "Tears cannot unmake a mistake," is one of her favorite sayings. Also, "Gabbling on about something doesn't get it done."
Teatrolls are very short, often only standing three to three and a half feet tall. They are built stockily, round and tubby, probably partially due to their less-than-active lifestyle. They have slightly dispreportionate limbs, with their legs being slightly shorter than is typical for humanoid-shape. This also tends to less physical and athletic tendancies.
They are farmers as a racial trade, trading their tea crops to Big Folk. Teatrolls are vegitarians, though occasionally they will eat fish for special occasions. They keep ponies, goats, and other domestic pets, but none are caged. All animals are allowed to roam freely, but are lavished with love so that each animal knows and is dedicated to their owner. The goats give milk, and the ponies draw carts and plows. Again, only when they are willing. If an animal shows signs of restlessness or distress, they are released immediately from any harnessing or binding. Teatrolls care very much for their livestock.
It is generally agreed among the teatroll community that large dogs are not acceptable pets. Small to medium dogs are preferred, and cats preferred even moreso. Families tend to stay in many-roomed homes, several generations together. This gives the entire community a stronger bond. Chores within each household are shared about, from oldster to tealing. Such chores are not so much split by gender, as by ability. If one of the females can swing an axe better than the currently available male, then it would be she who goes to chop more wood for the cookstove.
Above all, teatrolls love music. Almost all teatrolls can play some kind of insturment, whether spoons or a fiddle, hand-drum or whistle. Family groups gather in evenings for music and dancing, merriment and laughter. Festivals involve much of the same thing, but involving the entire community.
The teatroll community tends to live on it's own, at a distance from the Big Folk. Though they welcome travelers that are passing through, or come to do trade, they do not encourage them to settle. A single small home is kept clean and tidy that is Big Folk size, as a place for their visitors to stay.
As a side note, teatrolls and Big Folk are not compatible for romantic or procreative ventures.
Edit for later inclusion: Teatrolls love doing domestic things. They live as a farming community, lacking technology, and are very content farming, tending animals, cleaning house, doing chores, cooking food, that sort of thing. They consider their lives rich and full, doing just these things. They don't generally have the urge to make things better and more effecient or modern. Nor do they have wanderlust.
