we spent most of the winter working on my brother's dragster. he wanted it to look like a plymouth superbird (we're a mopar family) and it turned out really good. my dad made the chassis, body, and wing by himself. he's good at welding and all that stuff. daddy did a really good job on the wing. heres some pics from start to finish. biggrin and i just couldn't help but put a picture of our redneck 3wheeler. we put hoosier slicks on it and made wheelie bar to put on it. it's fun to pop wheelies on. xd

yeah, he's been welding for years. and yeah, that's my dragster. it's actually orange with purple flames but the camera's all funny and i can see how you could see it as red and blue. daddy promised to teach me to weld when i turned 12. i'm 12, but he hasnt gotten around to teaching me yet. whee

That's pretty sweet. Those things are a little bit faster than my car was stock in the 1/4, though I think I could take you in the twisties. wink

Thats cool, I really like the blue, and the wing actually looks functional.

yeah, you can go out and buy a brandnew stock mustang, and my dragster will beat it in the 1/8 of a mile. i can only race other juniors though, i've just compared time slips with people that have stock cars. nhra won't let jr dragsters run 1/4, we can only run 1/8. they're very strict on stuff like that.

yeah, it took about an hour at the paint booth to find a color that looked like petty blue. i think the color is a light teal or something like that. even though it might look functional, the wing is kind of impractical because it slows it down. before he had a wing on his car i had about a 9.00 ET and now it's about a 9.20. but we're working on his engine so he can go 7.90 anyways.

The three wheeler could prlobably beat my car on both the 1/8 and the 1/4 mile! Your so lucky you get to race! There aren't any tracks open to the public withen a couple hours distance. But There is a Ford test track not too far, theres a VW test track not too far away, and there is a test track near one of my Dad's work places i can't remember what company owns it i think it's Dodge but i could be wrong. the nearest drag strip is about a 5 hour drive from here. Theres also the Michigan international speedway but i have only been there for a classic car show. I never really got into Nascar.

I think the gearing is actually regulated to not exceed 75-80mph or so but my car only hits 89-90 by the end of a 1/4 so if you did run a whole 1/4 I'd be whupped. talk2hand

That is pretty cool.

I guess there's no chance of video?

lol, my mom races her pt cruiser in street ET and her mph is usually about 85. she used to race a drag bike i think it went about 130 mph in the 1/4. she quit though, to help with our jr dragsters and the transmission broke and it was $2500 to get another one.

yup, mommy raced her pt cruiser today, she made it to second round. xD she's gotta give it more gas in the burnout cause it keeps on boggin' at the line. i only made it to second round too. sad i had to sit and wait on this kid to stage forever and the tires spun. daddy said they spun about 3 times all the way around before it got traction. i was happy though, i had a .009 reaction time during time runs. whee

.009 secs?! eek Thats incredibly fast! That's machine like. Three revolutions at the start before gaining traction, that's not good.
