This subforum looked so desolate and lonely that I felt like making a topic. XD. So, your favorite books and why. Please give real reasons as to why you enjoyed the books, besides "it wuz good, lyke lol smile smile "

Me first! lol

The Harry Potter books by Jk Rowling: The reason I'm so obsessed with these books is the characters. You really can get attached to the characters and you really have to know what happens to them. And after a while the Wizarding World feels like a real place. There's so much detail about every aspect about the wizards' lives that you feel like Hogwarts is just like your school. Everyone's emotions are kept so real that even though they deal with magic lessons and the threat of Voldemort they appear as real teenagers that you can relate to.

Oh this thread is awesome.

Two authors I really crave are Karen Marie Moning and her Highlander based books. Romance novels base in the middle ages with highland warriors worth drooling over. The girls involved are all from our present day. Mythology is greatly incorporated into this so it can be classified as fantasy. You can really get lost in these books. It's like living in Valhalla, and I already have a boyfriend. If you wish to step away from reality and delve in a plumply detailed romance novel, these are it. Here's a preview of her work:

' She opened the door and began to step in, when he suddenly spun her around into his arms.
Without a word he brutally closed his mouth over hers.
Too shocked to resist, Lisa stood motionless, her lips parting at the instance of his tongue. He was angry, she could feel it in the bruising crush of his lips, and it fed her own anger.......

Another series that I'm currently and have for a very long time, been admiring is Anne Rices books. Oh the sweet descriptions and historical depictions are an art all their own. Vampires of such grace and beauty, not of this earth. Cursed to roam this earth for a time not wanted. Each has his own tale. I loved her books before that ridiculous movie came out. It hurts to rip my eyes away from the pages. I've read every single one but now I am re-reading Vittorio: the Vampire. If you are into intense reading and vampires with a lush description and historical references, these are the books for you.

One of my favorite authors is Lurlene McDaniel. Her books are so intense, and you don't want to put them down for days. Each story has it's own aspect of innocent love, and the stories usually touch upon real life drama. If you're looking for a good drama/romance book, pick up one of hers.

My favorite book by Lurlene McDaniel is The Angels Trilogy (which, yes, technically is three books, but there's a version of all three together)
The Angels Trilogy consists of the books (in order smile
1. Angels Watching Over Me
2. Lifted Up by Angels
3. Until Angels Close My Eyes

The story is about a girl named Leah, who discovers that she has cancer. While she is in the hospital, she meets an Amish girl named Rebekah. As the book goes on, Leah falls in love with Ethan, Rebekah's older brother.
The story is about the struggles the couple goes through, with Leah, who has cancer, and Ethan, who's whole family is very strictly Amish.
It's such a cute and captivating story, and you all should read it. ^.^

My favorite book ever is.......They Cage The Animals At Night, written by.........someone who has a name I cannot remember. Anyway, it's about a little boy name Jennings; he's a foster child. He comes to the foster home not knowing what he's doing there, or why he's even there. He soon makes friends with a boy named Mark who is overweight and has heart problems. Jennings gets lent out to a family later in the story who beats him, and doesn't feed him. They were so mean that they had to bring him back to the home. To find out anything else about the story you should read it 'cause then I feel like I'm giving a whole summery and that's like school. BORING. The story is very sad and really shows you how lucky you are. I love it!!!!

In reply to Tamari They Cage the Animals at Night is by Jennings Micheal Burch. He's actually a phenomenal writer. That book is actually written about him (notice the character/author name similarity ^_^). Jennings came to our school a few years back and the entire room was crying their eyes out. I had no idea why, so!, I picked up the book. I literally read it, cried, then felt so guilty for not understanding his presentation! He still has doggy btw!!!!

Now as for my all-time favorite author, I definitly have to go with Chuck Palahniuk, Philip Pullman, or D.H. Lawrence.

Chuck Palahniuk - the first book I ever read of his was none other than Invisible Monsters. Ugh, wow that was an amazing book! Basically it jumped ALL OVER THE PLACE until you finally reach the ending (which also started at the beginning). Think of it this way: Ending > beginning > middle > beginning > between the beginning and middle > before the beginning > middle > between the middle and the end > beginning > before the before beginning > during the ENTIRE thought process > ending!!!!!! It was INSANELY hard to follow but wow did it have such insight! A quote to tame the wild questions flowing through your head!
"Nothing of me is originial. I am the combined effort of everytbody I've ever known."

Philip Pullman - I've read his work since I was about 6! And now ALL OF A SUDDEN the entire world thinks he's a genious... I'm sorry but he's had more than just The Golden Compass Series out. Infact, he's had the entire Ruby in the smoke series out for years!!!!! Wow, he's amazing though, as a writer he definitly depicts the teenage mind in a fashion not many could imagine!

As for D.H. Lawrence - This is a man who can basically read any woman's mind. His work is so close to perfect on the exact descriptions needed to explain the sexual desires and mental thought processes nearly every woman has, but denies. If that isn't enough, his work normally takes place in around the 1800s! Imagine that! His work can depict the female mind from a time that ISNT EVEN OUR OWN!
Now if you're ever to start reading his work start with Lady Chatterly's Lover ugh it's amazing...

ANYWAY! I think i've written WAAAAY too much now!!! k bye <3
