I hope this is alright. The guideline said a thread that opened discussion would be fine and, being a full out foodie...
I thought it would be fun to start a thread about all those incredible edibles that help keep us alive.
Talk about what you like, what you don't like, what you want to try, what you would NEVER try. Naturally, pitch in on why/why not for all of these. Food jokes, food trivia. This is a place for all things food-related.
If this is a problem, just lock the thread. Please don't boot me. I like this guild.
...and food. rofl

I frequent Food and Drink. I love making crazy good food.
And aioli is the best thing on the planet as far as I'm concerned.
(I'm a Mario Batali fangirl, no lie.)

My favourite foods must be Italian and/or Japanese. Japan just tends to have a healthy bent and it's so darned good! Korean is growing on me too. Italian is just so comforting.
The one I kind of have to dislike by default is Thai cooking and they use tons of peanuts and ME+PEANUTS=Dead. sad I don't like spicy foods and I won't eat curry, but I've started exploring other Indian dishes.
Awesomest recent meal: Valentine's Day Dinner. leeks two ways with Brillat-Savarin, duck confit tartlets, pesto, smoked salmon, scallops with cream sauce and parmesan-crusted orzo, and a sampler platter of desserts. It's nice to eat "fancy" every rare now and then.

citrimax I'm a total foodie! Yay for this thread! I love cooking and baking from scratch. I cook all the time! heart Ooh, wanna make my birthday cake? I like baking too, but I don't get to do it often because 1- I'm in a shoebox apartment and don't even own an electric mixer (I know. It's sad.) 2-Having yummy goodies around is risky when you're trying to slim down a bit. Though I'm pretty sure I'm gonna end up one of those cuddly grandmas who always have goodies around and an awesome smelling kitchen... at least I hope so.

I need to make a caprese salad one of these days...they're so good.
I'm obviously an Italian food fanatic, though I do like Japanese cuisine, and I have a hard time refusing American Chinese food. Springfield Cashew chicken, oh yes.

Meatloaf. Meatloafmeatloafmeatloaf. Mmmmmm.
I can't cook for beans and I'm in awe of folks who can. Like my friends. I hover when they're frying breakfast, because, seriously, it's like magic. How do they do it?

Mmmm, food. heart
I love Mexican food. And Indian food... Vindaloo = best food ever. I get a lot of weird looks from people because not only can I eat it, but I love it. P: (I don't know how popular it is over the pond, so for those of you who don't know, it's the hottest curry available in most Indian restaurants.) Italian and British Chinese food are among my favourites as well.
I'm not the best cook, but I can bake pretty well and I make great breakfast food. ;D Fairly simple stuff, I suppose. I would love to learn more some day.
Oh, and I'm a vegetarian. surprised

I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't eat a lot of meat.
I need it in my diet to keep things where they should be, but on the whole, I prefer it as simply made as possible. Grilled, medium rare. biggrin

I make desserts, lots of desserts, and not much else. Ramen and grilled cheese. This is why, once out of the house for good, I will diiiiiiie.
I make some damn good brownies, though.

Dragostae I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't eat a lot of meat. I need it in my diet to keep things where they should be, but on the whole, I prefer it as simply made as possible. Grilled, medium rare. biggrin Overall I like my food made simply as possible. I hate crazy dishes where you can't identify the main ingredient. My mother in law one night was making asparagus...but it was crazy microwaved asparagus with a cup of mayonnaise, some sour cream, some breadcrumbs...omg barf! The smell of it was awful and I'm sorry, but that dish was not asparagus! There was maybe 15 stalks covered in all that goop, yikes. I make my asparagus simple: roasted with salt and pepper, maybe some fresh lemon juice or olive oil. No mayo ever!
