What Unites Us?
The universe begs an answer sublime
From our humble hearts and minds
Demanding "what is the emotion
To which every human life is tied?"
"Is it hate, with its passions and drums
Beating like the heart of a war?"
Shackling the world in anger struck dumb
Save the screams of those we abhor?
"Is it sorrow, with its sad and scarred eyes
Sharing our infinite suffering and grief?"
All the understanding listening buys
But offering an utter lack of relief?
"Is it love, with its beauty and charms
Comforting in moments of strife?"
Abandoning the lonely and harmed
By the simple neglect of their lives?
"Is there anything that really binds
Everyone's heartbeat to another's?"
Is there nothing felt by every mind
An emotion that any could find?
"It's not the emotion that matters
Or the precise thoughts within the head!"
The reply is proclaimed from our hearts
"It's just knowing we feel instead!"

I believe that is what unites us, if we know what other people feel as well. If we doen't it's all just a useless.
