they both have there ups and downs such as dub they change some of the words to and appeal to american addiances. and in the sub they miss words or leave things out. so i really like the original. but i prefer out of the two dub.

i agree subs are better even tho i dont realy care if dubs are they just need to be good enuf

it depends on the anime rele, like ive seen some rele good dubs like R.O.D i like the dub better but generally its subs~

For me, it really just depends on the dubbing company. I have no problem what-so-ever with ADV and Funimation. I've grown quite fond of many of their voice actors and you can tell that the directors, translators and actors really get the shows they're working on and that they work hard to make them as close to the original as possible.

On the other hand, there are companies out there who shall remain nameless (*ahem*Viz*cough*AnimeWorks*sneeze*sometimesGeneon*hack*) who seem to see the animation and think, "It's a cartoon! Cartoon up the voices! Those silly Japanese had everything waaay to un-goofy!"

My primary examples for *ahem*Viz*cough* are Naruto and One Piece. I nearly cried upon first hearing Luffy's voice and I whimpered hearing Naruto's. And don't even get me started on Sanji. They're awful.

My best *sneeze*sometimesGeneon*hack* example would be Saiyuki Reloaded. Holy crap! The entire party sound like morons and Terrence Stone for Kougaji? I mean, I don't mind Terrence Stone, just not for Kougaji. What the hell were they thinking? Saiyuki I LOVED watching dubbed by ADV. Saiyuki Reloaded, (mind you the series is just as enthralling and exciting as Saiyuki) I have to watch subbed. It's that bad.

And most of the actors at *cough*AnimeWorks*sneeze* just don't seem to be at the same level as actors from the other companies. It's either that or the fact that I don't particularly care for Wendee Lee's acting and she's in everything they release, sometimes as two or three characters. She ain't all that!

Now, I'm not knocking the shows that are done by these companies. I'm not even knocking all of the dubbing produced by them. I'm just stating the trends I see when I watch anime. So there's really no need to fight back with words like, "How can you knock Naruto! It's the best show evar!" I'm not saying Naruto's bad, I'm saying the dubbed acting is bad and that if I had a choice, I'd watch the sub over the dub in one second flat.

With Saiyuki Reload, it isn't a choice. I have to watch it subbed.

subs are wayy better than dubs^^

i like subs better, but i watch naruto subs and dubs cuz i think the english actor for kakashi has a, um...nice voice redface -but generally i like the japanese voice actors better
